Still as new condition. Just an ethernet cable had been used. This hub is great. Despite saying locked to BT, you can use these on plusnet (which i am) juwt put your details in and away you go. Syncs at a better speed than the hub 5. Wifi is considerably improved. It now reaches the firestick in my bedroom with "good" signal even on 5ghz band. whereas it would be "fair" and drop out alot with the hub 5. Menus are easy to access and use. Changed the ssid and password and solut the 5ghz network. Was up and running in literally 5 mins. Cant see any cons to this so far. Any reviews that say its useless or dosent work just dont know what they are doing. If you want 50% better coverage on wifi choose this over a hub 5. My line sync speed is about 2mbps higher with this router compared to the hub 5 and plusnet hub 1. I am so pleased I did. My signal is strong throughout the house and extends to the top of the garden and speeds I obtain are excellent. It has never been lost while I have been working. It was easy to install and set up. Are they just different radio frequencies?** A: Yes - that's all it is. They both have their plusses and minuses, 2.4GHz can travel longer distances, including through solid objects like walls but suffers from a lot of interference from other devices on the same range (other wireless networks, baby monitors, DECT phones, interference when a Microwave oven is running etc. etc.). 5GHz wireless can't travel as far, but because of that you'll get less interference from neighbours. 5GHz is also a lot faster - with speeds up to 1900Mbps possible, due to there being more bandwidth. There's also more channels available, which means even if you do have nearby 5GHz routers it's much easier to find an empty channel to have the best chance of a hassle free setup. From memory i think you have to use the router provided by sky. But call them **Q: Will this make any difference to performance on standard 'copper wire' broadband?** A: It will not improve the performance of your broadband service to your home. That will be whatever BT tells you it is and it depends on how you are connected e.g standard broadband 10Mb download speed and fibre 50Mb plus download speed. Note that most homes have copper wire to the home but fibre to the cabinet in the street the copper wire connects to. I am so pleased with the decision to buy this - working on the computers is so much easier! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Surprising! *by M***S on 28 July 2019* I was agreeably surprised because, for once, a product from BT exceeded my expectations. Extremely well packed in a board box with clear printed instructions. The Smart Hub was easy to install (it replaced both the Infinity modem and the Smarthub 3 that I was using) with fewer wires and less space required. After plugging it in, it responded with a blue light in less than 2 minutes. Picked up right away by my iPad and then by each of my other Apple devices. It has, so far, been stable and the signal is stronger than the old unit. I'm delighted.
