I think they are pretty warm, not thermal but certainly thicker and warmer than the vests you get in supermarkets, softer too. I will be buying again happily.

My twin daughters are also petite they are 4yrs I ordered a size 3yrs and they are extreamly large, too large for my 5 year old even, hope that helps.
