There is a switch on the front which gangs the 2 channels together with the same settings if you wish to use it as a single stereo compressor. I've always some form of compressor on a front of house PA system. The 266 is ok but for not a lot of money more you could get something a lot better. The stereo couple button is useful. When that is pressed what you set on channel 1 (L) is automatically matched on channel 2 (R). **Q: what is the difference between a 266 and a 286 (excpet the price) would the 266 be okay for voiceovers ?** A: Yes! you will be okay with the DBX 266xs, it is really 1 to 2 separate compressors ie you can use it as stereo L/Rt or two separate compressors (mono) expander & Gate also works on both channels separately or collectively.great product for its price. the only gripe I have is that it has no power button.
