I don't know how they do it with one led bulb but it reflects off the white surface and spreads the light to illuminate our back alley with just one light unit. **Q: I have put batteries in and no light! If mounted above people will it sense them?** A: Hi,I have placed one of these at the top of the stairs and it picks up movement every time we are at the bottom of the stairs. It mounted just above the stair border on the top stair. There are 14 stairs on the staircase. I am not sure how how far the exact distance is.
