Use a high quality cable as short as possible
Sounds fine. Works with Mac Studio Max1, which some others don't. It's flaky with long or poor quality cables, though.

Unusable - drops audio
At 16/44k one of the outs drops audio every 5-6 seconds for about a second. At 24/96k both outs drop audio every 1-2s for about 1-2s. An older unit from a different brand has no such issues. Returned for a refund.

Works for PS5 for additional sounds output
I have an older setup in my basement with a projector and surround sound. I utilize the infrared cable to channel sound through my surround sound. The PS4 has a plug for this, but not the PS5. I was able to use this adapter to transfer sound from a USB plug on the back to the older surround sound infrared connector. One adapter to keep my from needing to upgrade my whole system gives this a 5 star review for me!

NEED THAT AUDIO INPUT
Checking in for team "wants to use this for input". Have an older (mid 2010's) but high end audio interface with firewire and optical outs. Used to run firewire. New computer won't take firewire card scavved from old&busted pc. Looking for ways to avoid dropping six hundo plus on a new interface. Judging by other reviews and questions, I'm not the only one. Please make a two way or input model, no one else on the market has one.
