CritterKillProfessional Moth Killer Spray | 5 Litre Bulk Pack + 1 Litre Bottle with Trigger Spray

To our horror my wife and I discovered our house was under attack from a large infestation of carpet moths. At first, we noticed a small amount of damage to our carpets and put this down to my son’s cat that we were looking after for a few weeks but then suddenly holes appeared everywhere. It was only after closer inspection we discovered the larvae that were eating us out of house and home and the penny soon dropped. The thing was, we hardly ever saw moths flying about and it was only after we carried out some research did we discover that carpet moths rarely fly, preferring to hide and hop around at floor level.Now armed with the knowledge of what we were dealing with we set about devising a plan to eradicate the little blighters. This involved initially steam cleaning all the carpets in the house after heavy duty vacuuming. Steam is known to kill moths at all stages of their life cycle and is the most effective way of tackling a heavy infestation. The second part of the plan was to spray all affected areas of carpets and along the skirting boards where they met, with a powerful insecticide. Critterkill was chosen after researching many of the alternatives as it contained the active ingredient Cypermethrin. You will find that most proprietary insecticides costing two or three times more than Critterkill all contain the same amount of Cypermethrin. This appears to have been an excellent choice as it is colourless, odourless, very strong and supplied in a decent quantity at a very reasonable price (compared to competitors). Next, we dusted under beds and furniture with ant killer powder. It is recommended to vacuum up the powder after a few hours if used in exposed places but we decided to leave it in place as no access can be gained by our pets and it should remain active for several months. Incidentally, ant killer is the same product as powders designated specifically for moths but at half the price as the active ingredient is Permethrin at 0.46% W/W.The final stage of our plan is to monitor the situation. To do this we have laid out ten pheromone bait stations around the house. These attract the male adult moth and this gives an indication of how effective the eradication treatment has been. To date we have only caught two moths and this was the day after treatment. This is very encouraging and suggests the treatment has worked well. However, it will be many months of vigilance, if not longer, before we can be absolutely sure every moth and their pesky offspring have been destroyed.Incidentally, after treatment I set about repairing the damaged carpets and found it surprisingly easy using spare bits of carpet, a glue gun and napping duckbill scissors. There are several excellent videos on YouTube showing the technique to adopt.

the 1 liter sprayer stopped spraying at first use. Extremely unhappy. Now, I have 6 liters and do not know how to spray them and I have never used them. If the sprayer does not work, will the liquid work?

Happy with the product. It appears to work but too soon to be sure.However, having purchased two consignments of 5 litres + 1 litre spray bottle,in both cases the spray bottle stopped working before all the fluid was used.An independently purchased spray bottle did the job.

Appears to work as advertised. Would appreciate more detailed instructions for application to carpets, but this can be found elsewhere on the Internet. I recommend this product.

Arrived with the wrong labels on both the 5 litre and 1 litre containers. (5 litre stated Bed Bug killer and the 1 litre stated Professional Insect killer) Surely this is illegal and so I phoned them and was told that they had run out of the correct labels. They promised to send me the correct label on a one litre container - nothing has arrived!!! We hope the chemical is ok but the labelling and response appear to be rather poor.

I sprayed the whole lot as I wanted to make sure it did the job....... but to my disappointment the moths obviously liked it as I have just payed £425 to have it done proffesionly gutted 😑
