Pain Away Pain Pain Relief Pen
Purchased this as a replacement for a 'Pain Gone' pen which fell apart as soon as I got it out of it's packaging on delivery - sent it back to Amazon straight away and I am now awaiting refund. THIS 'PAIN AWAY' pen works in exactly the same way but is obviously a different make (made in Italy). The main difference is that this 'Pain Away' pen appears MUCH BETTER made, feels MUCH more sturdy to hold and appears MUCH stronger all round and comes with a small instruction book (quite basic) and a carry pouch. These last two items are also much better than with the slightly more expensive 'Pain Gone' pen?So far the pen itself (Pain Away)is working very well and I have noticed quite an improvement in the the pain levels in my hands and my dodgy knee. Pain relief only lasts for a couple of hours for me and MY own needs and may vary from person to person and obviously the severity of one's individual pain problems? but it's no problem to reapply the pen again when and should the need arise, which is the same with all these devices. It's a bit of a shame that these pens also make a such loud clicking sound when in use, as they could be a bit annoying should you need to use it whilst near other people such as on a train etc and could bring unwanted attention your way.I also have a book on Acupuncture Sites and have tried using some of the guides in that as well, which have been a bit hit and miss to date but it does seem to work OK for me on my minor joint area problems. I think that it is one of those 'tools' that needs to be worked at to get the best results from it, if you don't expect too much you may be surprised at the amount of pain relief it can have the potential to give you and at not too much of an expense - think positive!. Last night is the first night I have had without being woken by pain from my hands in quite a while - which was worth the money spent just for a decent nights sleep for a change as I am very reluctant to take pain killers as being a type 1 diabetic also some of these pain killer tablets can upset my diabetes control, but not so with this 'Pain Away' pen as there are no side effects.

Not comfortably so. An answer to drugs
Hard to decide on stars. Yes I did'not expect much, but it does do something. It is by no means a pain 'killer', but I find it gives some relief. This can vary in length and is, I suppose , dependent on other factors ie. Activity, weather etc. Used on my hands I find them less stiff, but this is countered by the pain in the thumb joints from pressing the button 20-40 times in succession, which incidently, creates a loud click each time. So?, pain relief, yes. Practicality?. Not comfortably so. An answer to drugs? No. Would I buy again?, probably not at the current price.

Cannot be returned to Amazon
Beware this item is not Amazon returnable (hygeine reasons!). It does help my joint pain. The device relies on the fact that pain comes and goes naturaly, so it is easy to jump to the conclusion that using the device is the reason pain subsides. Just pressing on the region of pain has an identical effect ie: temporary relief of pain which very quicky returns. Don't waste your money and then get annoyed that there is no possibility of returning this piece of junk. Maybe it can be used to light the gas hob, but it useless against pain.

Great for mild pain relief while and out and about.!!!
Before I start my review I will say that I have used a Tens machine for 20 years and it's saved me a lot from taking meds for the pains I have...I had never heard of the pain pen before and after several days reviewing online and finding out more, I found that it's a Accupuncture/tens machine of sorts but with no batteries to speak of...It runs off a Crystal inside which has around a 2 year life span....It's also more localised unlike a Tens machine which uses sticky pads and gives a broader relief..I was eager to try it to see if it would work on my wrist which has developed Rheumatoid Artritis....I use my tens machine at home but is a bit awkward to use out and about,I wanted to able to get some relief while out and about and more portable...I'm pleased to say it DOES work....well for me anyway...I know some have said they do not get any relief and I can understand this....But using it has to be done correctly, much like a tens machine,as in,leaving it on long enough and placing the pad (or Pen in the case ) in the correct place and targeting the area...I've found that the pen needs to be placed on the fleshy area (soft part between the joints) and this will send the signal directly on top of the nerve and stun it giving relief from the pain....maybe not for long...but relief. The delivery of the spike/shock may not suit everyone and some will not like it...but once you get used to it you can see what it's trying to do...Stun the nerve..It does not have any side affects so you can use it as often or as little as you like.I'm glad I bought this to try and I will certainly be recomending this to others who experience pain in certain areas...In the box is a leaflet which describes where to place it for other ailments...I can't comment on how well this works for those, but I will add a P.S to this review when that time comes.Cheers
