Q: How does it start and stop? Pushing it? Is there a button? Can you stop it part way or does it have to run its course?

The item itself is like a big button. When you push down on it starts the timer which is only five minutes. I don't think we've ever needed to stop it before the time runs out so not sure if you can do that or not.
