When I first got my hands on one of these, I opened it up and started striking away, but no sparks. I grabbed for the instructions, feeling rather deflated, but they were in German. Having Googled the English version I discovered that you have to first scrape off the dark protective coating on the magnesium stick. Once I had revealed a nice shiny area another strike got some sparks. Excellent!! I tried lighting some tissues, which took a bit of time, but I have now worked it out.Put the tissue on the ground and firmly, but slowly, scrape the shiny magnesium with the steel to create some filings on the tissue. Then strike the magnesium with the steel, hard and fast. The resulting sparks then cause the filings to spark too, and you have fire!!I bought this one because I liked the fact that it comes with the protective housing. The compass is a bonus but will probably just use Google maps.

This is an okay tool, but a bit gimmiky for me.I much prefer the Doan magnesium fire starter- tried and tested over many years, I have one that I bought back in the 1970's, the Doan is a brilliant and 100% reliable life-saving tool.As I said, this one is okay, but I would mot like to trust my life to it.Buy Doan every time.

Buy one, check it unscrews by hand, screw it up with a little Vaseline on the o-ring, add a ball or two of cotton wool, then store in your EDC bag and you’re almost ready for anything...

Es un buen producto y de calidad. Cumple su función. Con los precios actuales de la luz, me bajare al descampado frente a mi casa para hacer una chasca con estas chispas y ahorrarme unos eurillos al cocinar.

Robusto, pratico.Prima di recensirlo l'ho testato, a mio personale avviso la placchetta metallica con cui è venduto (apribottiglie, centimetro) va smerigliata prima essere usata per accendere in quanto è verniciata e non fa attrito.L'acciarino ha una leggera patina protettiva, quindi va grattato un po' la prima volta, fatto questo accende che è una bellezza. Consiglio vivamente.

Fonctionne très bien. Je suis juste surpris car je m'attendais à plus petit que ça! L'ensemble en aluminium est de bonne qualité. J'ai juste rajouter un joint pour rendre le tout étanche sur le pas de vis de l'etui. La boussole fonctionne bien. Bonne prise en main du gratoir qui est de bonne taille. Fait de belles étincelles.

The media could not be loaded.  Der Feuerstahl ist ordentlich verarbeitet, wirkt nicht billig,das Gewinde lässt sich ordentlich auf und zu schrauben.Ausgestattet ist dieses Werkzeug mit einer Signalpfeife,einem 5cm Lineal, einem Bieröffner falls man beim Campenmal auf ein wildes Bier stößt. einen Sechskant, der muss nicht unbedingt sein aberwas man hat dass hat ma eben.Ein Kompass ist dabei, der funktioniert auch soweit gut.Einzigster kleiner Manko. Wenn man feuer gemacht hat ist das Lineal voller Magesium Staub oder Dreck besser gesagt.vielleicht wäre eine kleine Tasche nicht verkehrt denn sonst muss man das dreckige Lineael in die hosentasche stecken.Zum Feuermachen an sich: ich hatte total spaß dabei es auszuprobieren,und obwohl ich einige versuche gebraucht hab und erst das 2. Zundernest zumBrennen gebracht habe hat es dann schließlich doch funkioniert. ein tollere Erfolg!!!Der Magesiumstab wirft auch ziemlich gute Funken, ich kann dieses werkzeug aufjedenfalljedem Empfehlen der Spaß an survival sachen hat und vom Feuer machen fasziniert ist!

- IL NE S'AGIT PAS DE FERROCERIUM, MAIS DE MAGNÉSIUM... L'UTILISATION EST LÉGÈREMENT DIFFÉRENTE, une fois qu'on a comprisça, c'est effectivement plus simple... Cependant cela ne change rien aux autres problèmes :- la boussole ne fonctionne pas 😁😡🤣Si vous trouvez le moyen de faire sortir un son du "sifflet" je dis bravo !!!La chaîne est scellé impossible de l'ouvrir ou de la passer dans les trous...- cerise sur le gâteau... Le grattoir est nul a chier, j'ai bidouillé un peu les dents, et je me sert du dos du couteau pour enflammer le magnésium !!
