what batteries does this need

It does not take batteries (does not light up like on the box), just a 3D jigsaw.

It says from age 12 upwards, is this suitable for a 7 year old?

My 7 years old helped his brother doing it and he loved it. I had to buy more. Hope this helps

Not sturdy at all the pieces just fall out. Waste of money.

It says the product is for 6 months to 36 months on the technical details. What's this about?

Thats incorrect, on the box its up to age 99, i got it for my Dad last Chriatmas, its fantastic when the lights are on it, and i got him a tiny king kong to go on the top!
