Currently being used to mix Vocal and acoustic guitar with backing tracks and the sound is amazing. The inputs are noiseless the whole layout is very intuitive. My only criticism is the manual is a bit light on information however there are literally dozens of videos on YOUTUBE which really help. Including one guy who has rented Yamaha MG10 mixers out for professional services over 5,000 times and never had an issue with one. I wholeheartedly recommend this excellent product. Would I be able to see my live recording while using Audacity?** A: No, these units are analogue mixers, to record into the PC you'll need to send the outputs into a seperate audio interface (usb/FireWire/or even into your built in soundcard mic input). I think there is a UX (?) model of these mixers that do have built in interfaces but they're obviously a bit dearer and will only send the stereo output of all mixer inputs into the PC but that might suit your needs! **Q: Is this a suitable mixer for a small, computer based recording studio?** A: I bought this for my 14 year old sons small studio for live recording. A multi channel audio interface would of worked just as well. I have a mic, guitar, monitors and machine mk3 plugged into it. All he needs now is for his voice to break, he sounds like he’s singing a duet with Orval the duck and John Wayne… good luck **Q: To play music from a mobile phone, is there any advantage to using 5-10 with no mid, instead of channel 3-4, with all three high/mid/low?** A: Yes, you would use 5-10 for backing track, as it doesn't make sense to amplify the high/low/mid bands of the track. It will unnecessarily distort, if you insert in 1-4, and use those knobs.
