I tried to fit the Handy Bar in the door latch receiver slot on the door pillar without success, the slot was too small. There are cheaper bars on the market which may fit but when tried one out it did not seem secure, also the Handy bar faces outward from the car but the cheaper version only fits across the door opening restricting safe access. I'm told that some of the disability shops sell transfer bars, perhaps you could visit one for a try out.
