It's easy to take apart and rinse. I've used it so far by removing the bottom lid and setting the chopper over my veggies on a cutting board and lightly slap the black handle repeatedly to chop to my desired sizes. It's kinda fun to use to as I see the veggies being chopped into smaller manageable pieces. However, if you use this on frozen, stuck veggies they are harder to cut. I did not want to keep slapping because I don't want to break it so give your veggies a few minutes to thaw outside the freezer and chop away. this was well worth the money! Oxo makes really good kitchen products. It is small enough to stick up on a shelf out of the way. I do not have a lot of storage space so that works well for my kitchen set up.
