One cannot get quite the same sharpness of definition as one can with Conte. However it is much cheaper, glides across the paper more easily and blends with other chalks and pastels beautifully. I prefer it to traditional charcoal as it doesn't snap or disintegrate when using it. I used compressed charcoal with my students at school for a the reasons given. I recommend them. ## Frequently Bought Together - Jakar Compressed Charcoal Sticks - Black (Pack of 12) - Faber-Castell Kneaded Eraser with Case, Grey - Strathmore 300 Series Newsprint Paper Pad, Tape Bound, 14x17 inches, 50 Sheets (32lb/52g) - Art Paper for Adults and Students - Practice Sketching with Charcoal, Graphite and Pencil --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.be/products/48693300-jakar-compressed-charcoal-sticks-black-pack-of-12](https://www.desertcart.be/products/48693300-jakar-compressed-charcoal-sticks-black-pack-of-12) --- *Product available on Desertcart Belgium* *Store origin: BE* *Last updated: 2026-11-04*
