Works a Treat!
I have deliberately delayed my review as a previous revewier said theirs failed after 2 months. Well, 3months+ in mine is working perfectly and I'm really pleased with it. Yes, it's a little bulky but it was easy to install and set the timer - it comes with a spacer that I didn't need. I wanted to turn on 3 outside led bulbs at a set time and all of the digital electronic switches I found needed an earth and a resistor fitted. I just fitted this over the existing switch and, hey presto! Would recommend. Makes a slight whirring sound as roller moves over switch. Can be used with a single or double light switch. Would recommend.

Easy to fit, easy to program
I had read the reviews about this product before I purchased positive and negative, here is my opinion and experience. The base unit is easy to fit and slides behind the existing light switch which in my case was the old plastic square type MK unit, double pole typical Stairs/landing position switch. I did not disconnect the fuse at the mains distribution board as I had only just checked the earths on the switch back plate some months earlier. I would however recommend that you do isolate the lights at the distribution board just in case when you loosen the switch to which you are fitting the base unit, that a wire may become loose. I only want it to control the lights in the hallway so I chose the one wheel setting option (you can control up to three switches on the same switch unit but all three will come on at the same times) The wheels are easy to fit and remove care is needed to ensure they are clicked into the holder. Once I had carried out this operation I fitted the batteries and programmed the unit following the instructions, which I found simple. Then I slid the unit into the backplate and away to go. In its operation the unit is a little noisy as the motor drives the wheels to operate the switch however, I found that it did not matter as I could not hear it when I was on holiday, which is the whole point of the unit. When we are at home I turn off the program and use the switch in its manual operation. Totally satisfied does what it states on the box.

A Clever Security Solution in a Simple Package 🔒
The Mydome Light Switch Timer promises to be a hassle-free way to deter burglars and enhance home security, all while saving energy. This police-approved device's unique design allows it to retrofit over your existing light switches, providing a convenient solution without the need for complex wiring or installation. One of the standout features of this timer is its versatility. It can be used with single, double, or triple gang light switches, accommodating different household setups. Additionally, it works seamlessly with any type of light bulb, including energy-saving options like LEDs and CFLs, making it a future-proof investment. 💡 The programmable aspect of the Mydome Light Switch Timer is where it truly shines. With the ability to set up to nine programs per day across a seven-day cycle, you can create a realistic lighting pattern that mimics an occupied home. The random mode adds an extra layer of unpredictability, further dissuading potential intruders. However, it's important to note that this device is not compatible with flush or flat light switches, which could be a limitation for some households. Additionally, while the installation process is touted as simple, some users may find the lack of detailed instructions or visual guides challenging. Overall, the Mydome Light Switch Timer offers a practical and energy-efficient solution for enhancing home security. Its plug-and-play design, programmable features, and police endorsement make it a compelling choice for those seeking a deterrent against burglaries. Just ensure compatibility with your existing light switches and be prepared to potentially navigate the installation process without comprehensive guidance. With its ability to create the illusion of an occupied home, this timer could provide valuable peace of mind for homeowners and renters alike. 🏡

Brilliant idea and easy to install
Such a simple idea to tackle switching on and off your house lighting whilst your away on holiday or any length of time your not at home, without having to mess with any wiring. Just slacken off your room wall switch via the two screws and slide a bracket between the wall and the switch in the gap you have made, tighten back up and your done. Install two AA batteries into the timer, programme the timer and then just slide the timer into the bracket you have mounted behind the wall switch and that’s it. Note switch must be of the modern rocker type and must have a thickness to it, not the ultra modern flush fit, otherwise the timer on off mechanism will not reach the rocker. Please note ours was the correct type, but the timer still didn’t reach the rocker on our switch enough, so the manufacturer has put two extra spacers in with the switch for which you can use in conjunction with the bracket, which allows the switch to stick out from the wall a touch more so as the mechanism then reaches the rocker to allow it to switch it on and off it’s just trial and error to see which works correctly for you. It’s for the use on switches with either 1,2 or 3 rockers only, there are 3 activating wheels on the mechanism, you can remove any number of them from the sliding mechanism so the timer only trips the rocker you want it on and misses the others, Note it doesn’t switch the rockers alternatively for different times, it slides down and will trip all the switches at the same time, It’s up to you to remove the individual activating wheels and leave just the ones you need the timer to trip. Important point if you are using this timer whilst you are at home to switch certain lighting on and off in your home and it’s while you are asleep, IT WILL WAKE YOU UP the motor that moves the mechanism over the switch rocker is EXTREMELY NOISY. I noticed on a couple of reviews they mentioned the timer will lose its programming when replacing batteries, I tried this out and the timer we have stays programmed, so there shouldn’t be an issue, there is a reset hole on the front, if you need to change the main time ie to or from British summer time etc, use a straitened out paper clip for this and note there is no micro switch click when doing this so be careful you almost just have to touch the plate inside with very little pressure and you will see the time reset to 12.00. The on off programming you can alter without doing any of the above.

Disappointed - check your switch
I really wanted this switch timer to work but it is rather intolerant anything but a square, standard plastic switch. When put in position on my courtesy light switch it would not work. The courtesy light switch (the moving part - the switch itself) is slightly recessed and I decided, despite the seller’s offer to discuss by phone, that only changing the light switch would do the trick. When the item arrived I also discovered, after some wasted time, that only two out of wheels were in their correct position. What should have been the middle wheel was pressed into a hole where redundant wheels can be stored. Not at all clear. I put one of the D shaped pieces of transparent that the manufacturer supplies in place but that only made the fit so tight that the switch timer wouldn’t slide into place. The fit is very tight anyway and it’s quite difficult to remove it when it is fully in its cradle. A cradle with grubber screws to adjust the fit might be a good idea. By a complete fluke a visitor to the house put the switch timer, which was out of its cradle, loosely in the cradle and pressed “on” and the switch worked. In other words, it won’t work in its correct position but will work when not fully in the cradle/bracket! Anyway, because it works when a quarter of an inch or so from fully in the cradle I’ve decided to keep it but there are other problems. 1. It comes without batteries. Given the price, that seems extraordinarily mean and not everyone has batteries lying around. 2. Programming is permanent without resetting the unit using a pin, the end of a paper clip or something relatively sharp. Why isn’t there a simple button to cancel the programming? In addition, resetting means that the day and time also have to be reset each and every time. Some people may go out on the same nights every week but I don’t. And what about seasonal changes to hours of darkness? It is daft to have to reset the unit to change the day and time when you simply want the lights to turn on and off at different times. The idea behind the switch timer is quite good but the execution doesn’t match up. Of all it’s features I think I like its digital thermometer best but that’s not why I bought it. I’ve given it three stars because I accept that it works on some switches with no problem but until somebody refines it (perhaps by spring loading the wheels and making the cradle adjustable) I can only advise caution before buying. If you have anything but a plain light switch think twice.

Lights come on right on time
I had been looking for a timer switch for my 'big lights' for some time but didn't even know one existed. This is everything I was looking for. The device fits over the light switch, is easy to install and programme and the light comes on like magic at the right time. The only issue I have, and reason for not giving it a 5 star all round review, is that it does not turn off at the right time. I think this is due to the position of the device. If you press it down (ie towards the wall) it goes off. I have tried using the plastic inlays that come with it, and even added an extra cardboard one but the position still seems to be a little out. For this reason, it is great for turning light on if I am out at work and want lights to come on, and will be home in the evening to turn them off. At the moment, I can't trust it to do this for me! Otherwise, this is a great product.
