Not very long lasting
Does a good job as a fault locater in the fibre network, be aware that it will mess up splicer if used within 100m of light source. Turn off to splice. I go through these every few months as they tend to get loose at the tip so light not powerering through.

Solid build.
I've had this tester a few weeks now and figured it was a good tmie to write a review. There's only one important moving part - the switch - which means there's not much to go wrong, and it feels firm when I switch the tester on, not like it's poorly made. There's a cap that keeps dust and dirt out, that clicks open and shut using a little bump in the plastic cover. When you turn it on, a small LED shines through the power switch and lines up with one of the modes, "on" and "glint" (blinks twice a second). You simply need to push the optical fibre connector onto the end of the pen, turn it on, and look for any bright spots in a darkened room. There's lots of YouTube tutorials online to show you what you're looking for and the best ways of spotting slight damage. There's a little plastic replacement collar for keeping fibre optics firmly in place - but the connector is long enough that the fibre won't easily slip out anyway. It comes with a carry-case, lanyard, and little instruction page, and takes two AA batteries which will last a long time with general use. Laser diodes don't use a lot of power.I've finished checking all my optical fibre cables, and it's still working fine. With the little carry case it has, I've been able to pack it away safely for the next time I need it.It's great value for money.

Not a Toy
Used for my work installing FTTH, very handy when things just do not want to work.

It's ok
Nice and compact but doesn't reach its goal

Four Stars
Requires an AA battery to function but great to traceing fibre cables. Worked over 100m without any problems

Great for testing fibre optic during install to avoid issues down the line
Works well happy with it

Broke after a few weeks
After a few weeks, it randomly broke. The light turns on but doesnβt run through the fibre cable.
