No matter how much I shake out, there's always enough left over to stain my pencil case!** A: Hi there. Thank you for your question. The 780 mars technico pencil was originally designed for technical drawing alongside our lead sharpener tub 502 which can be used to sharpen it. The sharpener in the back of the pencil is only designed for occasional use when the 502 tub sharpener is not to hand. Therefore the built-in sharpener is not designed for regular use. The only way to clean it is by blowing or tapping it on the table to remove the graphite dust. Hope this helps. **Q: I have just bought one of these pencils and a pack of 2mm HB leads, what other degrees of leads can you buy? Mike** A: HiWe stock grades B and 2B and I think you can get H.RegardsHelen MeadowsPacenote.com **Q: Apologies if daft question, but is this pencil suitable to take travelling (i.e. can you easily retract the lead to carry the pencil loose in a bag)?** A: Yes the lead will retract back inside the pencil and is thick enough that it will not break rattling around in a pocket or a bag. **Q: I'm looking for a quality writing pencil with large diameter lead. The usual ones only go up to 0.9mm. Is this suitable/comfortable for writing?** A: It's certainly a good quality pencil. If you're happy with something heavyish this should suit you well; if not perhaps the Mitsubishi or a Koh-I-Noor lead holder would be better bet. Alternatively, there are some 2mm click-to-advance pencils on the market, of which the Staedtler 925 25-20 is one of the nicest. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ quick dispatch and ease of use *by Z***0 on 23 September 2026* thought it was a bit expensive but now I have received the pencil, I am very impressed with the quality the workmanship and design. very easy to use and simple to use. it is light to use and well balanced when holding it is comfortable and very durable ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent! *by B***N on 17 July 2026* Excellent! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Buy from a reputable seller or a shop so you can see what you’re getting. *by H***1 on 3 June 2026* The pencil itself is good and the lead ( only one ) was sturdy . The sharpener is good although I haven’t tried it yet . It came unboxed without the rubber . Can’t be bothered sending it back for a rubber. It’ll last a long time I think . ## Frequently Bought Together - Staedtler Mars Technico Lead Holder (780 C) - Staedtler 502 BK A6 Mars Rotary Action Lead Pointer and Tub for 2mm Leads, 502BKA6,Blue - Staedtler Mars Carbon Lead, 12 x 2mm, HB (200-HB) --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.be/products/48635046-mars-technico-leadholder-clutch-pencil-2mm-780c](https://www.desertcart.be/products/48635046-mars-technico-leadholder-clutch-pencil-2mm-780c) --- *Product available on Desertcart Belgium* *Store origin: BE* *Last updated: 2026-11-03*
