Moomin - Series 3 - Complete [DVD] [1990]

I remember watching the moomins when I was young, especially during my teenage years. I loved the cartoon; it is full of beautiful images, nice music and inventive stories as well as relevant morals. I would have liked to get them in Mexican Spanish (as I watched them in my mother tongue) nevertheless the English version is also very good. I still remember some episodes which are not included on any of the DVDs and which I assume were never translated and shown in the UK. I hope I can find those 'obscure' episodes in the future and they are not in Finnish/Japanese :)If you have kids, this cartoons are way better that anything they can get nowadays on the telly!

I bought this a while ago to relive my childhood deep in Moomin Valley. Now I have a child myself, she is being brought up watching the very same Moomin cartoons that her dad watched! Quality is exactly as you'd expect from a 30 year old cartoon, fantastic!

My friend's son, who I bought this DVD for, is very pleased with it; delivery time was quick and I believe that he - more or less - started watching it as soon as he could. He's completely pleased, as is my friend who can relive her childhood again.

The third volume in this series begins with the last episode of the second (episode 27.Aunt Jane) so be forewarned. Apart from that, a great addition to the colletion. The quality isn't flawless - there's some static, for example - and the music is, at times, out of tune, but this doesn't make it any less enjoyable. It's an old series, after all.For those of you who may not know about the Moomin series, it's certainly worth buying one of the three volumes currently avaliable. I enjoyed them as a kid; now they hold a nostalgic quality. I therefore can't easily judge whether an adult whose never seen Moomin before would enjoy it. Nevertheless, I feel it by far surpasses modern cartoons, both in its characters and plots. They are simple, but not patronising. The focus is in the right place: character and story. The dialogue is witty, and works on a number of levels, though all are accessible by the young target audience. The music and sound effects also aid the humour, making it an altogether fun experience.So why 4, instead of 5, stars? Well, the first volume contained my favourite episodes - those I remember watching as a kid - for one; these are just as good from an objective point of view. But also I felt that the mistake of putting episode 27 in this volume, the use of the same screenshots on the back cover, and mistakes in the text on the back of the sleeve, justified the reduction.The list of episodes:27. The Dvds came in good time for christmas, my 9 year old daughter really enjoyed whatching them and we ordered series 1 & 2 from the same seller, so they all came together. Good morals to the stories with interesting and unusual characters.

Such a sweet animation, so grateful Stax have started to put them on DVDs. Yes, they were not very careful, but the movies are still great. I really hope they will continue to release the following series, too!

Great animated movie. Seriously poor transfer quality-the image quality is really bad and the image is shaky and over-compressed. Watchable but it asks the question why they bothered to produce such a poor DVD from an excellent cartoon...
