## Overview

The Ultrabreathe is a compact, adjustable lung exerciser designed to strengthen respiratory muscles through resistance training. Suitable for athletes and those with breathlessness, it features easy resistance adjustment, a latex-free design, and CE certification. Lightweight and portable, it supports daily use with simple cleaning, helping users improve lung capacity, endurance, and overall breathing efficiency.

## Description

The Ultrabreathe is a very effective trainer in SP going to Rio/ respiratory muscle, providing an easy and convenient means of increasing the endurance and durability of the respiratory muscles. It is based on the principle of resistance. When you inhale, the resistance created makes your breathing muscles work harder and harder than working harder and more durable to become – and as your breathing power improves, the Ultrabreathe can be adjusted gradually to provide more resistance.

Review: A Great Little Device - As an asthma sufferer I have spent some time researching available devices to ease or improve my breathing. When I came across this little device I was amazed to see how inexpensive it was compared to some other products that seemed to offer the same benefits. At the price I thought I had to give it a go and I am glad I did. It arrives in its own plastic 'wallet' with multi language instructions for setting it up and using. Each of the parts can be easily dismantled for cleaning, and there was no obvious smell or flavour to the soft mouthpiece. The resistance to air flow in and out is easily adjusted, both at the rounded end which holds a ball that can be moved further over a vent hole to allow more or less air in, and nearer the mouthpiece where a turn knuckle can be screwed in or out, again to make breathing resistance lesser or greater. The idea is to start at a low level of resistance and, breathing only through the mouthpiece for 25 times in the morning and again in the evening, exercise the lung muscles until they become stronger. I have only been doing this for a short time but I can see the advantages of doing this over a prolonged period. At first it is tempting to set the resistance higher so your lungs have to work harder - this can actually reduce oxygen flow and raise blood pressure so it is not advisable. My plan now is to start at a low level and build up resistance steadily so that improvements are felt over time. I consider this a great value product for anyone who wants to improve their lung capacity and effectiveness. I thoroughly recommend it.
Review: Lung muscle trainer - An easy and common sense principle. Basically provides resistance as you breathe in to make your lung muscles work harder. Heard Joey Diaz praising these on a podcast and have battled with wheezy asthma for decades - inhalers pretty bad at controlling it so had to get creative. Alt medicine is good; but is an investment of time and effort as well as not straightforward. Found that, for me, exercise helped. Thought this was worth a go and I do feel a benefit from using it. Basically twiddle it till you find a setting that makes breathing hard and then do 25 sharp inhales (or exhales) in row twice a day is what they recommend. It's not an instant "wow I feel much better", but I've noticed less wheeziness and like over a few weeks of using it. It works on the idea that your breathing muscles will get better and more efficient if they are exercised. I don't just do this on its own, I also do butekyo breathing (nose), take homeopathic pollen for seasonal allergies and take cordyceps as well as try and exercise at least once a day. Seems to help. As this is cheap and effective it's worth a buy.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how do you use it?**
A: i turn it onto the strongest setting so it makes it quite difficult to breath, but this has increased my lung capacity as im asthmatic and find running or anything like that difficult, but now im up to 20 mins on the cross trainer without being too tired

**Q: Couldn't you get the same exercising effect by breathing deeply from a plastic drinking straw?**
A: Definitely not!!! for one thing there is no air intake adjustment with a straw and it would be very difficult to obtain an airtight seal between your lips and the straw. With the Ultrabreath you start off at a comfortable level by adjusting the air intake control ring and then over a period of time possibly weekly if you use it every day you will reach a point where it is at a minimum opening thus really giving your lungs an excellent workout.

**Q: is it suitable for COPD sufferers**
A: I got it to help excercise my lungs after a dose of the flu. My Dad had had a massive stroke and I was smoking a lot and feling very out of breath. It has really helped as I felt I was on the road to COPD or emphysema. My peak flow is back up to 500 from 350. I would have to be careful in recommending it for a diagnosed condition, due to litigation. It is similar to the excerciser given out by physios to folk having major surgery. Certainly give it a try. It is inexpensive and if you follow the instructions carefully I think you would see an improvement in your lung capacity.I would certainly try it if I was in your place. As it involves opening up the lower lung tissue I can only guess that it would help prevent infective exacerbations. Go for it. I see a comment that it is cheap rubbish. I completely disagree and suggest that this person is not using it properly. Do consult your GP-will have more sense than the aforementioned

**Q: Do you have to breathe through your nose to use this? I have rhinitis, so can only mouth breathe at the moment.**
A: No: it's to strengthen your lungs and so you *should* be breathing through your mouth. In fact they supply a nose clip that prevents nasal breathing whilst using the device (though one doesn't actually need it to gain the full effect).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lung muscle trainer

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for running, and for breathing issues
*by A***R on 9 September 2023*

I guess I should say upfront that if there might be any medical reasons that using something like this could cause you difficulty, you should check with a doctor first... I got this to help improve my breathing when running and cycling. I use it for around 5 minutes every day, and I think it makes a difference. It is hard to say how much of a difference, but I have certainly noticed an improvement in my breathing capacity since using it. I have also gone for a few periods of time without using it, when I was on holiday, and again noticed a bit of a drop in performance as a result which picked back up when I went back to using it every day. It takes a bit of trial and error to get a setting that provides enough resistance to each breath without being too restrictive, but adjusting it is easy - just twist the dial and gradually keep adding resistance until you get to the right level for you. There are various similar things like this out there that are app enabled etc and I have no doubt they might give a bit more of a benefit over time - but they are also significantly more expensive than this little device and unless you are a professional or very very serious athlete, the difference is probably going to be negligible. Cleaning it is easy - just run it under hot water and wipe off. My grandad eventually got one of these too as he was struggling a bit with his breathing and had found he was starting to struggle just with going up and down the stairs. He uses it in the morning when he gets up, just sitting in bed using it for 5 minutes or so. He has noticed an immediate difference. He isn't going to be running marathons any time soon, but he is no longer struggling to breathe when going about his day to day activities. Given it is pretty inexpensive, I would definitely recommend giving it a shot if you want to improve your breathing a bit.
