Yes you can though it does have a back protection

I am of average build but I always buy the largest size xxxxl5 in Bike jacket so I have plenty of room for clothes and thermals underneath and it is a great jacket

If you're going to use it for wet weather you'll get wet. You need to buy a waterproof over suit. It's a very well made good quality leather jacket and great value for the price. If you look after it it should last a long time.
