Great base for any dishes!
I grew up in Japan and used Soomi soba Tsu yu in cooking all the time. It is great in everything dipping sauce for soba, of course, but also for marinate, for sushi instead of plain soy sauce. Umami brought out by variety of fish and sea weeds unleashed the hidden taste of all the ingredients of things you make. Some Soba restaurants in Japan use Soomi Soba sauce in their dishes. By the way, the explanation of its Amazon site says its flavor is PORK. I know the fact the flavor is NOT pork. It is the fish stock based sauce. I mentioned it before a few years ago to Amazon but it still says its flavor is pork. Amazon should correct it to FISH STOCK so that people who do not eat meat can enjoy it in lots of dishes. There is no mention if pork or other meat in Japanese ingredients section of the package. I saw other Soomi products that included pork, but not this one. See the picture of a fish on the package? That is telling you it is fish based. Hope Amazon can change the Taste section of the product description as Fish. Otherwise, it is a perfect mainstay of any kitchen.

I love this.
This is my favorite. It's primarily for Japanese noodles.Soba, udon, so-men...Just add water to make the volume twice (for soba noodle) or up to 5 times (for so-men noodle), you are ready to eat.Very quick. But the really good thing is that you can use this to make good Japanese dishes.Saute any veggy and add this.An egg plant is a perfect material.A radish is very fine, too.Or, boil some green and just pour this a little on it.If you add some fried tofu, it will be very nice.Well, mixing this with oil is the secret to make your Japanese dishes super delicious.Bad thing is... the list price is horrible. It's just around USD 5 in Japan.Go to Japan and bring as many as you can back to the US!
