So far so good!
I bought this to replace my outdated square taper BB and crankset that recently died on my MTB, 90% of my riding is done on my road bike so I needed something cheap and easy for my mountain bike. Upon opening the parts were all well packaged, and after inspecting them, all seemed pretty solid, the BB is near enough identical to a Shimano Hollowtech ii maybe along the same lines as a Claris or Sora model. The crank arms are robust and a little heavier than expected but that’s not a big deal. Extras include the chainring bolts and bb spacers. I fitted the bb and luckily didn’t need to to fit any spacers, I fitted my existing chainring to the crank spider and everything felt solid and the chain ran straight after tightening everything up. I tested it on a quick ride mixing up smooth tarmac, gravel tracks and some rocky downhill single track and it performed fantastically, the cranks feel solid and stiff, the previous square taper always seem to feel a bit spongy. Obviously I know that time will tell, and I will update my review in a few weeks/months will further info. But as it stands this is a real value for money purchase, you could spend £40/50 more on an official Shimano/SRAM product but you won’t go wrong here at all. Definitely worth an investment if you don’t want to spend too much, as buying unbranded Chinese stuff can be a gamble but it paid off for me! As I said before I’ll return with a further update after a few weeks of riding but all seems well at the moment! ***UPDATE*** So 2 months in and it’s still running perfectly! I was expecting the BB to go first but it’s still as smooth as ever, I’ve been on multiple XC rides through both wet and dry conditions as well as rough terrain, I also commute to work 4 times a week using the same bike so it’s had a whole load of use and yep, it’s perfect. I can thoroughly recommend this crankset it’s practically faultless considering it’s unbranded. The cranks are rock solid and can take a huge beating, the BB I’m still preparing to replace as it’s obviously not an official Shimano, but a Deore replacement is only about £10-£12.

Hollowtech II clone - superb quality
I've just purchased this set of cranks for my Son to replace his old square tapered bottom bracket and cranks. There were no reviews, so it was a bit of a gamble and felt it'd be worth it and it was. The cranks and bottom bracket immediately feel great quality and are pretty light. I was pleased that prior to purchase I thought they were a clone of a Shimano Hollowtech 2 system and was utterly delighted that they were when I saw them in the flesh - no chance was I spending hundreds on my teenage toerag! They're now on his bike and have been faultless. I implore anyone who needs to replace a bottom bracket and cranks to upgrade to these (if you're on a budget or want to move on from the square tapered type system). To get this bottom bracket sufficiently tight you'll need to buy a Hollowtech 2 bottom bracket spanner, such as this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01JHXTIXK Contained in the package is a bearing preload bolt which is made out of plastic. I personally think this is a good thing as it might prevent people overloading the bearings, although it's good plastic so maybe not! I did it finger tight - as is the requirement - and then tightened up the other crank arm. The arm doesn't hold the preload bolt in, so I removed it and plan to buy some bar end plugs to block the hollow axle up. This is far from a negative though, as once it's been used to add some "preload" (squeezing the arm lightly against the bearings/bottom bracket prior to tightening the arm up) there's no point in leaving it in. Also, I'll write this as I had a nightmare getting the old bottom bracket out and I'd hope that if others do, this might help. We did it by purchasing this bottom bracket remover for our old square taper type https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002NGO2EY and then bolted this to the bottom bracket using a washer and the bolt used to hold the old crank arm on. This then meant I could then put the newly purchased 32mm spanner on this bottom bracket remover and stand on it forcing it to undo. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000LFXL1Y Also to help others, the bottom bracket undoes in the same direction you pedal the cranks when riding and this is the same for both sides.

Good item for the price!
At first I was dubious about this item, but after having used it for a few days now and given it some rough treatment it has held up very well. So would reccomend this to anyone.

Good. Until not good
The overall product that you get it brilliant. The bottom bracket and cranks will happily spin for 5 minutes if you spin them with no chain. The crank itself is well built. I put both in a vice to fit pedals and the chainring, with a fair amount of pressure and neither showed issues. I had only one small and one not quite as small issue. The spindle itself, if you want to call it a spindle, is INCREDIBLY tight fitting, so much so that i had to remove the non drive side of the BB in order to remove the drive side crank and side of the BB, all to fit a spacer. But thats the biggest issue I had. Now if like me you're a bit of a perfectionist you will need a tap kit and a countersink/de-burring kit, I cannot speak for everyone but I found the threads to be okay but not the best, and some of the machining on the chainring bolt holes werent the best. Other than this they are excellent. I'll update in a couple weeks when ive put in some miles but so far I'm impressed. Fast forward to November 2023. Or July, as the product life would be. Chainring folded. Just sheered the bolts and folded.

Amazing Value
My son’s MTB came with a sealed square tapered bottom bracket, the achilles heel of any crankset, however as we only intend to keep the bike for a season paying Shimano prices wasn’t even an option. The crankset external bottom bracket was a direct replacement against the square tapered thread. It came with new replacement chain set screws and a plastic tensioner. The Geometry is similar to the crank I took off but some front mech adjustment is required.
