This is now my favorite budget trail cam.
We started having minor issues with trespassers this summer. When Black Friday 2021 rolled around I decided to buy a bunch of budget cameras to test them out and keep the best six. I compared: (3) GardePro E5 ($53.99) (3) GardePro E5S ($57.99) (1) GardePro E6 ($83.99) (1) GardePro E8 ($97.99) (2) Wosport G6oo ($41.99) (1) Usogood WIFI trail camera 4K (Gifted to me, currently lists for $113.99) (1) my one year old Victure ($84.22) (Black Friday 2021 Prices except for the Victure, which was Black Friday of 2020) So my winners and keepers in order are 1) GardePro E6 2) Gardepro E8 3) Wosport G6oo. Everything else (Except the Victure) got sent back. That about sums it up, but if you want the details and why I made those choices then read on. I initially set up a test in the forest behind my house and put all the cameras side by side on a board about four feet off the ground. I set it up so that I could walk into view at a right angle 90 feet away from the cameras then walk directly in towards the lens. I let the cameras run for 24 hours and made several trips down to the board midday, evening and in pitch black darkness. For physical design the GardePro cams are all awful. The screen is on the inside lid behind the camera, so it’s only visible when you have the camera pointed in the wrong direction. Figuring out where to mount the camera so that it’s pointed at the precise right spot is a real chore. The battery compartment lid is crazy tight. I had to use a flat screwdriver to get to the batteries and for some reason none of my rechargeable batteries fit. Finally, the memory card slot pops out the bottom and it’s not always obvious when you have it “locked” in. I envision SD cards getting lost in leaves in my future. The E6 and E8 had some redeeming qualities though: The Winner: GardePro E6: It worked perfectly right out of the box with very little configuration. The poor physical design is overridden by the WiFi feature, which allows me to get the cam pointed using the screen on my phone. I could review the images and videos on the cam without pulling the card so dropping it out the bottom is a smaller concern. The sensitivity isn’t perfect but it works better than anything else in the group I tested, except the slightly more expensive E8 (which behaved the same). The images and video were not as good as my phone. They aren’t even as good the phone I stopped using eight years ago. But compared to all the other cameras in the test they are exceptional. I was easily visible in the night time video at 90 feet, and could almost start to recognize myself at about 50 feet away. My face was easily recognizable when I got to somewhere between 25 and 20 feet from the camera at night. The photo I've included is of several deer in my front yard taken by the E6. GardePro E8: This performed almost exactly as the E6. The only reason I put the E6 at the top of my list is that I don’t really see any extra value for the price. The E8 has side sensors which should help detect activity from something out of view and get the camera "turned on" so it's ready to capture motion, but in my basic testing I didn't see any superior triggering from the E8. The E8 also boasts a higher photo resolution, of 32MP vs 24MP, but the images I saw were about the same. Once you start zooming in both cameras get blurry. Again, these are budget cameras. I was more interested in video, and they both max out at 1296p. If I could get both cameras at Black Friday prices again I'd probably go with the E8, otherwise I just don't see the extra $20 (current price) as making it worthwhile. Wosport G6oo: Honestly, these were so cheap I bought them to use as decoys, so I was truly surprised at how great they are. These don’t have the invisible IR, so when they trigger you will see a red light. I intended to set these up as a deterrent with a second (and better) camera watching the same area but out of sight. Someone approaching the camera would hopefully see it and turn around, but if they decide to trespass anyway and steal one of these cameras to cover their tracks, I would get proof from the better hidden camera. I was really surprised at how good the sensitivity was right out of the box, the quality of the videos and audio, and how intelligently the physical case is put together. After sending back the E5 and E5S cameras, I decided to just mount these up out of reach with a ladder where a trespasser can’t get to them easily. UsoGood: As far as usability and sensitivity goes this is a great camera. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the images or video. The images I got were all grainy both night and day, and had a serious fisheye distortion without adding any noticeable field of vision over the other cameras. I had put this on my wishlist after drooling over the feature list and the reviews, but as badly as I wanted to love this camera I had to send it back using the gift receipt. Hopefully my in-laws won’t be upset. GardeE5 cameras: Great images for the price, but the sensitivity and audio was not good. They never stopped triggering. In 24 hours I ended up with 990 images on each camera. I retested these by putting the sensitivity down to medium, and then they wouldn’t trigger until I was within 25 feet. Another deal breaker was that the audio on all three was horribly muffled. If a trespasser is talking I want to be able to hear everything they are saying. If a deer suddenly turns to look somewhere I want to know what sound made it jumpy. GardePro E5S cameras: Like the E5, great images for the price, but the sensitivity and audio was not good. They triggered nonstop and in 24 hours I ended up with 1391 images on each camera. I retested these by putting the sensitivity down to medium. They improved but I still ended up with about 20 pictures and videos of a dead still forest with no clue as to what triggered them. I think I could have gotten the sensitivity to work as needed but the biggest problem I ran into was that the audio on all three had a consistent clicking sound in addition to being muffled. I tried downloading the newest firmware but that didn’t seem to make any difference. Victure: I don’t see these on Amazon anymore so it’s probably not worth mentioning, though these had rave reviews in 2020. The sensitivity on this is a little low but overall it works as expected, and I’ve gotten some great clear videos of deer and racoon. The biggest issue I have with my Victure is that the IR range at night seems to be weak. Any movement beyond 25 feet at night is so poorly lit that you can’t tell what you’re looking at. It’s the perfect camera for tracking Bigfoot, as you’ll get all the blurry ghostly night images you could hope for.

Nice clear pictures
This is the nicest trail cam I've ever owned. It was super easy to setup and I love the lithium ion battery it came with. That's so much easier than gathering 8 AA batteries every so often to keep the camera up & running. I have to wait and see how long this rechargeable battery lasts but I think it's going to be good because I've had this new camera on for 5 days so far and the battery is still at 99%. The videos it takes are phenomenally clear and the audio is amazing. I'm seriously considering getting the solar panel for this now that I see how well the camera works and how rugged it is. I definitely would recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality reasonably priced trail cam and one more thing...the live view is amazing as well, whether you're watching the daytime or nighttime views.

Review update
So after I went through 16 AA batteries in a week, first 8 were rechargeable and second 8 were alkaline AA non rechargeable, Support responded to me and explained that at night rechargeable are not the best option for the camera as it requires much more power to record at night than daytime. Also we have iOS on most devices and they are working on issues that iPad and iPhone have with playback so its not your device it happens with Apple products. The company sent me a replacement camera within 48-72 hours and I bought lithium AA batteries and it too started to use battery life quickly. So I think if you just take pictures and not videos you will get much more battery life, video requires alot of power so what I did was purchase a 12 volt one amp out power adapter and also a 30 foot extension cable and plug it into outlet on outside of the home. This has alleviated all power issues I had with battery. If you can attach your camera with 30 foot cable adapter I recommend it strongly as now I can use 1080p video setting, record video for as long as I want and images at 24mp. Battery power has always been an issue in electronics from remotes for tv to cars. This camera is excellent if you have a constant power source, and I was pleased the company sent me a replacement camera to make things better. I cannot fault them that batteries drain when recording video as the quality of video is excellent, the audio is excellent as well. One thing that needs to be corrected is if you are looking at a live feed on ipad and you click on full screen there is no way to back out of the full screen mode to disconnect from the camera, I have found the only workaround this is to power off the tablet and back on and this brings you back to the correct screen. If you look at live feed it will show status, settings and gallery at bottom of screen, do not click full screen from here because you have to power off ipad to get disconnected from the camera at this point. Hopefully there is an update coming that corrects this issue. Format ting the SD card at beginning is put card into camera while power is off, turn on and click menu button until it scrolls down to format SD card option, once you see that click yes and it formats card quickly and you are done. I have a 128gb San Disk SDHC class 10 and it work great. You may not need 128gb as I don't think I will have that much video recorded, its an immense amount of space. Most people probably would be fine with 32gb or 64gb. So in conclusion, battery use of this camera is not a viable option for me, and I don't know if anyone has had great battery use with this camera but if you can run a power cord from outlet to camera this one is fantastic. I was frustrated at first and was going to send it back but for what I need, I can run power cord to camera inconspicuously and am satisfied with the result. I have minor issues connecting to live view of camera as long as I am within 50 feet of the camera. May not be perfect for everyone's needs but I have made it work for my needs and am satisfied. I would recommend this camera as long as you can supply power source to the camera or you just want to take still photos because video uses alot of battery power.

Rugged and easy to use wildlife cam with only a couple of issues - UPDATED minus 1 star for support
FINAL UPDATE: I reached out again for support and they had not seen my latest response. After finding it, they diagnosed that the micro SD card and adapter could be causing the issue and recommended a specific SD card. I followed their instructions and the camera is now capturin quality video without issue. The Wifi/Bluetooth funciton with the iOS app is also working very well now. I updated to 5 stars because of all the good points at this price point. Bottom line, get a standard size, high quality SD card and you should be able to enjoy this quality camera. UPDATE: The seller/manufacturer responded to the problems I mentioned and started to try to support me by either correcting the problems or replacing the camera. However, once I followed their instructions and provided proof, they've stopped responding. I'm lowering my rating to 3 stars since I the praise I gave is still valid, but the support is basically non-responsive. So as long as you don't have any issues, it's ok, but if you do, good luck. I've owned a few wildlife cameras over the last 10 years. I enjoy to catch the local deer, fox, and other animals on video and share them with friends. I recently purchased this brand because my prior unit had developed a problem with SD card slot. I was pleasantly surprised at the pricing for the features it has. Overall, I'm very happy with the build quality and menu functions.... probably the most solid case I've had on one of these and the easiest to use menu for settings. The battery pack is also very solid and you can tell your batteries aren't going to get wet or humid the way it's built. I've used it to capture a local fox family that just had kits and it's been great to be able to see that up close. Two criticisms I have: One is that the wifi/bluetooth functionality to download to their app on a smartphone seems to be sluggish and can get stuck/hung when there's a large number of items to transfer (say over 5 or 6 video/photos). I was very close to the camera so I don't think distance was the issue.. sometimes it works but slow, other times it gets stuck and just sits there. So I end up removing the SD card and bringing it inside to my computer to download images. The other things I'm noticing is that the videos it makes seem to hang pauses in them where the subject in motion freezes for several frames and then is moving again. I'm not sure why that is and may contact the manufacturer for support. Still, overall the most rugged, easy to use camera I've had and it is definitely picking up what I want to capture.

To be fair, this may be a climate issue
These were the second set of cameras I purchased to use at water stations in the desert in the search for a lost dog. The first was a two camera set from spypoint. They wouldn't replace the non-functioning camera so I just returned them both. First impression of these Guardpro cameras: I love them! Easy to set up, easy to place, and for the first 24 hours they appeared to work fine. Maybe too well. Anywhere from 1,500 to 2,500 pictures was par. I was working on the sensitivity settings because most of those shots were of nothing, maybe a branch moved or something. It was a bit cumbersome having to be standing practically right on top of the camera in order to connect, and downloading the images took FOREVER, But after a few downloads I got to the point I could tell from a thumbnail whether or not pictures had anything I needed to see and was able to delete the useless ones pretty quickly. Around day 3 I believe it was? Or maybe it was when I went to download the end of day photos from day two? I started to notice that there were gaps in in pictures. Cameras were detecting. No movements in the evenings up to midnight. Then it would stop recording from midday until the early hours of the morning. Then they just stopped recording at all. Then it got to the point they could not connect with my phone. I checked the cameras three times a day, so days are a blur, just what I found each time is what I remember. I went through the troubleshooting, I reformatted the card, I changed the batteries, I turned the units off for 5 to 7 minutes, I turned off the Wi-Fi and a hotspot to my phone...... Everything asked for. Each time the camera appeared to work at least for a few minutes and then it would stop. This was with guard pro tech support. That was when I noticed that the information strip had date and time incorrect and I never could reset them to my Arizona time. Yesterday, instead of Guardpro tech support I used Amazon tech support. Totally by accident. We think we figured out what was happening. I removed 1 of the cameras from the field and had it at home, in the air conditioning. It functioned perfectly. I then went to grab the second camera only. Unlike the first camera, I opened the front panel before removing it. The panel was blinking. I don't know if camera one was blinking. When I removed it, I just simply removed it and took it home. At this point, I couldn't even connect to the " Hot" camera. An hour after taking it home, I could connect and it started taking pictures. Both cameras went back out into the field last night in the evening. Both cameras did take pictures of passing wildlife. The problem is, I can't have these cameras just for certain hours. We need to have them active at all times, more particularly, the later hours of the morning when I'm at work. Looking at some of the downloaded pictures that I still have, the info strip records ambient temperature at 138° at some times. What it appears to have happened is that the cameras got too hot and shut down. The ambient temperature of the desert floor doesn't really cool significantly until after the sun sets and even then, even in the morning, the ground temperature can register 100° again according to info strip information on pictures that I saved. Saved. These cameras may have a tolerance of up to 140°, but they can't take sustained heat and remain functioning. If this purchase was made in the winter, I may very well have found my soul trail camera. Unfortunately, we're talking about hot conditions and this camera just cannot not take the heat so it doesn't work. Still sending hugs to guard pro, but they need to test their product a little bit more to understand its limits to avoid impossible circumstances like mine. Amazon is accepting the cameras to be returned.

Not useful for mice
I bought this to try and monitor mouse activity in my basement and get to the bottom of where they were coming in and how many were evading my traps. I have it placed pretty close to where the mice were walking past, about a foot away from the ledge on my foundation they love to travel on. I have it set to high sensitivity, which according to the manual will record even the slightest movements, I figured ideal for small critters like mice in a static environment like my basement. The attached image is the very first frame of a video that I got from the trail cam when it was triggered by a mouse. The mouse was traveling left to right, but the camera didn't even begin recording it until it was already halfway past the camera view. Probably a 2 second delay at the slow speed this guy was traveling. I was expecting a much faster reaction time from the camera between detected movement and recording beginning. After seeing this video I placed 2 sticky traps in between my snap traps. The mice hit the stickies then tend to fall off the foundation ledge and onto the floor. The next morning I had 2 mice caught in 2 sticky traps but only one video. The video was of no movement, but a sticky trap was missing. So the camera missed the mouse walking over the trap and getting stuck, but only triggered after the trap fell off the ledge. The other mouse hitting the second sticky trap and then falling off the ledge didn't even trigger a video. So the camera appears to have difficulty detecting the mice at all, which isn't acceptable to me given how close to the mice I placed it. Additional small complaints: Battery drains quickly. I am already down to 50% battery power on the camera after filling it with 8 freshly charged NiMh AA batteries. App is very, very slow to connect. Even when very close to the camera and connected to the same WiFi network, it takes a minimum of 2 minutes for the app to connect to the camera and be able to check if you have any footage. Overall I found this product to be underwhelming and disappointing compared to the advertised sensitivity. I get that mice aren't huge but when it's close enough to take up 5-10% of the camera pixels you'd think it should be able to pick it up. I will be returning this product to Amazon.

Great camera for the price. Takes amazing photos and videos in nearly pitch dark!
I love this camera! I wasn't sure what was coming around eating the cat food in our shop. We saw prints, and everybody was guessing what they were. Turns out we were all right, even though 3 of us had a different guess. It has been fun every day running out to see what went on the night before. I have this in a big metal shop, with a roll-up door about 7" off the floor to help keep the feral cats safe. It is pitch dark at night, and this camera works like a charm! You can hear them chewing the food and walking around. We have captured opossums, raccoons, cats, and even a skunk in the same area, eating at the same time! The battery lasts a long time. On an average night, it takes around 300 photos/videos. I charge it once a week. It does take a long time to charge, but it is well worth the time.

Gardepro Is My GoTo For Cams
This is a great cam. I am impressed with not only the hardware, but with the software to use it. Many devices are pretty good but they fall short on software, not GardePro. Instructions are easy and the cam is easy to setup. They also state to use LiOn or solar power but you can use rechargeable NiCad, which I use, and I get about a week of use since the cameras are set mostly to record only at night. Of course, if you use the camera 24/7, it will be shorter, and LiOn batteries are recommended. Videos are 1080p and night videos are good with the IR light. During the full moon the videos are like daytime indicating the camera lens is excellent (aperture of f/1.6). The recorded videos are crisp and clear. And using the right memory card allows rapid delete or save as needed with the software. I use a 64Gb card, which with 10 second video intervals never fills up. Only time I go to the cam is to change batteries. Otherwise, I do everything on my phone with the software. I had one cam that malfunctioned and Gardepro replaced it in a few days and responded to my emails with quick, good, and complete help. So support is as good as their cams. Also, I use 1 cam inside the house to monitor what's going on in another area, and when I'm away. So they have many uses other than just watching wildlife. YES, I can and do recommend GardePro cams. I have 3 of them and will continue to buy from them in future. Good Job, Gardepro!
