This is a commercial slicer, so no telling what your bagel size may be; however, those bagels bought in a grocery store will fit fine. I have at times bought them from a bakery or at Costco. If the bagels are not frozen they will fit, but some may be a little snug.That will not effect the cutting. I bought the commercial bagel slicer because it is safer for me. There is no collector for the crumbs, but I usually put a cloth or paper under it. I always cut bagels when they are defrosted from the freezer and I have never had any problems. I bought this slicer because we have one in the hospital cafeteria and I have never noticed anyone complaining. Take care! Caritas7 **Q: Does this work on New York bagels?** A: We love this Bagel Biter! It works like a charm quickly and easily slicing bagels. Not sure what you mean by New York bagels - it works on all of our bagels. If a New York bagel is extra wide then the bagel might need compressed to fit in the holder. Hope this helps. **Q: Can it cut flagels (thin bagels)?** A: I have never tried to slice a flagel, however, if you stuck the flagel partially onto the blade before slicing it, I'm sure that it would work. However, be away that there is about a 1 cm slit inside (horizontally where the blade is) to allow seeds, etc to fall through.
