Tamaruya Authentic Shizuoka Wasabi Paste 43 g (Pack of 3)

When you taste this you realize there is a difference between various different makes of Wasabi.A lot of so called 'Wasabi' is green coloured horse radish but this is different. For a start it's more chunky as though it has gratedroot in it and the flavour is subtly different.I've checked the ingredients of Yutaka and S&B wasabi and they're mostly horseradish but this one is the genuine article.I like this stuff very much, it gives a good zing to many meals, and you don't need a lot of it - unless you're a masochist or show-off! Eating it neat is the best way I know of for clearing out ones sinuses !I also like it on sushi and with cheese. I recommend it to you

This Wasabi is a bit different from the common paste you can buy at supermarkets or you get in small packages when ordering Sushi.It has a nice flavour, is spicy but not as hot. So it won't really creep into your nose with that stingy bite (if you are used to hot food!).Even if I like the nose biting hotness a lot, I prefer this Wasabi over the common stuff. It has way more Wasabi in it and the quality lies here in the good flavour.

It's good apart from the 2 month use by date on the back - bought in August use by October. I like my wasabi but as there's 3 packs of it I'm going to find that very hard to acheive unfortuantely!

Delicious and so much better than the ones you get from supermarkets, and even most speciality stores, made from horseradish. This contains wasabi root and WOW what a difference.

One you've tried this, you're forever spoiled! I had some of the usual horseradish/mustard stuff in the fridge, so I could do a direct comparison, and frankly there just isn't. This has a lighter, sweeter, fresher flavour with far more complexity than a simple dull whack of horseradish/mustard heat. Money very well spent!

Most wasabi you can buy from the supermarket or shop have very low wasabi content. This one has 37% wasabi japonica which you can see from the colour and the texture. Those cheap version usually use mustard as replacement and use green colouring. High wasabi japonica content taste very different, no where near the mustard taste. It has excellent aroma and the flavours. You will not regret buying this wasabi. I think this is the best you can buy outside Japan.

I thought this was a good deal for 3 tubes of authentic wasabi paste, but there's a catch: the expiration date is only 4 months away, July 2017 all 3 of them! I'm supposed to consume 3 tubes of Wasabi in such a short time span? I love the stuff but come on! Giving it 3 stars for now until I find out if wasabi in tube really do have a very short shelf life or if I've just been sold old wasabi. Then it may drop to one star.

こちらの商品は本わさびだけを使ってるとのことなので食べてみたが、パンチが弱くて辛味が少ない。西洋わさびのほうが本わさびより1.5倍辛味成分が強く、刺すような刺激的な辛味があることが知られている。そのためこちらの商品をそばつゆなどに溶かすとほとんどわさびの刺激がしない。おそらく食べる直前にすりおろして入れると辛さが引き立つのだろうが、すってからデンプンや水飴などと練ってチューブに詰めた物ではこれが関の山なのだろう。本わさびを使うと本物気分が味わえるが、直前にすりおろした物だけが本物であってチューブ詰めはすべからく紛い物なのだと気付かされた。どうせ紛い物ならば刺激の強い西洋わさびを使った物のほうが個人的には美味しい。刺すような刺激的な辛さが苦手な人にはこちらの商品のほうがおすすめなので★3で。
