The first time I took this, it was only one capsule. I noticed some subtle , temporary affects of the pill but nothing to brag about. But after taking the recommended dosage I was rolling lol. The Ashwagandha acts as a energizer , good for foucs , memory , and even sky rockets libido. But I love the focus kick I got, later this wears off, and the Passion Flower kicks in,then later the L- Theanine . L- Theanine produces Gaba in the brain, which is responsible for the calm, as well as the Passion Flower, which makes you feel pretty much fearless. This combination, is good, except later on, you can feel the sedative effects of the Passion Flower. Yet you still feel focused and calm. L- Theanine calms you as it works to produce Gaba also . So feeling sleepy feels weird while being calm, and focused. L- Theanine also is responsible for focus by the way. The focus is temporary , at least hyper focus I should add, but the effects of the the other 2 ingredients are still present. I took 2 yesterday after a meal for better results and longer effects. However this doesn't just wear off like other natural alternatives or Nootropics, which is what I have a problem with. I awoke this morning with good memory, and still calm, I'm not frantic as usual or easily excited by anything. But all I want to do it lie down in bed, not in a bit of hurry to get up at all. Just lying there, sleep wasn't bad, but I awoke to headache also, then still feeling sleepy. So I go back to sleep , which was just a nap due to wild dreams I was having lol. But I hate still feeling sleepy, and having a headache when I awoke, I don't desire to sleep and dream all day, with headaches. I think this formula is to potent for me. I also know the formula was designed to keep you calm with herbs forever, to the point where you don't have to rely on pills. It's good , but with side effects, pro's and cons. There is never any problem like that with Amazon, though. I am so glad I found A2X. I started out taking 3 a day, then backed off to 2 a day. That was a few months back, and I am just now beginning to "cycle" them with other supplements to give me a break from them, as well as taking only one a day and using something else at night. Overall a good product, however there are much better products available that I have found to help with social anxiety and depression, SAM-e is a great product, however I found combining it with an antidepressant like fluoxetine makes the effect on well being and relief from anxiety and depression outstanding, way better than every other product I have tried.
