DON'T BE ASHAMED, I'M NOT.
I almost feel ashamed for having bought this album, being a fifty something man, and having derided Taylor Swift in the past but......But having heard the 4 singles from it, I have been seduced by La Swift. Especially by Blank Space, Style and Bad Blood, which have insinuated their way under my skin and so I gave up. I admitted to myself that I LIKE HER.Once I got over the shock, and yes, self humiliation I decided to bite the bullet and buy 1989 and then I could have kicked myself for not doing so earlier.Although, had I done so I probably wouldn't have bought the deluxe edition and that would have been a shame. This is a VERY, VERY GOOD album. There, I said it. And you know what, I am NOT ashamed. The girl writes really, really good songs, with catchy melodies that get inside your head and stay there, and she is a clever lyricist but what I think I admire about her most is her sense of humour. She is not afraid to parody herself and I find it so refreshing in one so young, and I am damned sure that if she were to right a song entitled Ironic, it actually WOULD be.But above all of this, WHAT really stand out here is an album chock full of seriously great pop songs and at the end of the day that's what you want from a pop star.I could dissect every track but that's been done to death, so all I will say is- to anyone dithering over buying this CD, anyone feeling embarrassed or ashamed, anyone that finds themselves humming along to Miss Swift, get over yourself, buy this and bloody love it as much as I do.And just to finish, I hope that she is around for a long, long time..........

Taylor's new groove!
No country for old men... This is a new and interesting twist by Taylor Swift. I own every single on of her albums (from self titled first album, through 'Fearless', 'Speak Now', 'Red' and now '1989').Initially, I was slightly concerned that there was none of the country-based sound of the other albums (even 'Red' had songs in which the country origins/influence could be heard). But I have to say, after a few spins I absolutely LOVE this record!Taylor is so talented - especially as a songwriter, but also as a musician and as a singer. Everything she does feels honest and real and it has loveliness generally absent from music today.'Style' and 'All You Had To Do Was Stay' are probably my favourite tracks, but I would go as far as saying there is not a single bad track on this album. To be fair, I would say the same about all of Taylor's albums. She really is something special.I'm really excited by how this has taken off, though. And it's about time this wonderful young woman was given the credit she deserves - and everybody deserves to enjoy this amazing artist!'Bad Blood' is reputedly referring to a fall-out with Katy Perry. All I can say is Taylor Swift can write lyrics, play instruments and sing. And do all of these well. Katy Perry? None of the above! This is a masterpiece! A great, groovy record which can be enjoyed by a very wide and diverse audience.Well done (again) Swifty!

Loveeeee 😘 TBT Review
Every single track on this is perfection...The opener, Welcome To New York, gives a clear notice that Taylor has departed from Country Music and is becoming a pop princess!Blank Space is perfect for a single and im glad it is one! Its hook is incredibly catchy.Style and This Love are the only songs that give a hint of Taylor's country roots, they are amazing just the same.Out Of The Woods is not the best track on the album, but the 3rd verse (about 2 minutes in) is just golden. All You Had To Do Was Stay is beautiful, but gives the exact opposite message than "I Wish You Would" does. Both are perf🎶.Shake It Off is just amazing and it was a great single.Bad Blood is pure gold. No words.Wildest Dreams and I Know Places are two irreplaceable tracks, my favorites on the album. 🎶🎶🎶How You Get The Girl is a great track and I love the chorus!Clean is more of a soft song than the rest, a great closer to the album. 🎶RatingsWelcome To New York - 8.9/10Blank Space - 10/10Style - 8.7/10Out Of The Woods - 8.3/10All You Had To Do Was Stay - 9.6/10Shake It Off - 9.2/10I Wish You Would - 9.4/10Bad Blood - 9.8/10Wildest Dreams - 10/10How You Get The Girl - 9.8/10This Love - 8/10I Know Places - 11/10Clean - 9/10^I tried to be firm, but they are truly just too good!!

Pretty good album, could’ve been better though.
Taylor finally releases her all pop album, it’s about time to be honest.1989 is a very good album, it’s uptempo’s are some of the best songs Taylor has ever put out, period. What let’s this album down are the ballads. While well written songs like “Clean”, “You Are In Love” & “This Love” are just bland, which is sad because the ballads were always my favourites from her previous albums.Anyway back to the positive. “Blank Space” & “Out Of The Woods” are some of the best songs Taylor has ver released, both are insanely catchy, well written pop gems.“Bad Blood”, the most recent single, has an extremely catchy hook, though lyrically a bit basic. The supposed feud with Katy Perry elevates the song to being more interesting than it actually is though.“Style” is one of the best on the whole album, really well produced and just stunning. And of course we can’t forget “Shake It Off”, the lead single, a really catchy if not childish song. While I do like the song and it has done really well for Taylor, I find it a bit hard to listen to. She’s done the whole childish lead single before with “We Are Never Getting Back Together” and much better too.
