It is very good to boost their general health but does not cure diseases. However, there are additional products specifically for fungus and dropsy that are better to treat these diseases. Definitely check the instructions regarding what can be mixed but, if you can, ask the expert at your local centre. **Q: Will this cure fin rot by doing a salt bath** A: No I don’t think so You need to medicate with Bacteria meds **Q: Will this harm the birds who bathe in the waterfall of my pond** A: Hi, It is non harmful to birds in a waterfall. I personally didn't like it as I found it just caused white foam on my pond. But it might not happen to you. **Q: Will this help reduce water hardness?** A: I don't think so better to use blagdon pond safe as that makes tap water safe for your fish. The fish appears to have recovered and is swimming around quite happily with no issues. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unclear instructions *by A***S on 13 October 2025* Unsure about how to use this product, it says on the pack that to add gradually over 3-4 days and this level of salt should only be maintained for a maximum of two weeks, beyond two weeks it can cause plant damage. So does this mean I need to empty the pond and put clean water in so it doesn’t kill my plants? 2 fish dead this morning after putting only a quarter of the pack in, the pond is 2,500 litres.
