Gel Kit, Nail Rescue 3 Easy Steps

I have weak nails. They break easily and flake off in layers. I love having painted nails, and until recently, I have managed to keep them fairly long and looking decent, with the occasional use of nail saver patches. I started to get breaks in my nails really low down on the nail plate during the winter weather (nails always seem weaker in the winter!) The nail patches weren't enough to keep them together for the whole time it took for them to grow to a cuttable/fileable length, and someone recommended this product to me. My first thought on opening was how small the glue bottle is. I don't know how many repairs it will do before running out, but I'll edit at some point and let you know. I read the instructions, and had a go. The nail glue smells exactly like the stuff used in nail salons to mix up acrylic paste, so it might be easy to replace with that? I will probably try it when the tiny glue bottle runs out. Anyway, I painted the glue on, dipped the finger into the pot and the horizontal break in my nail, which is more han half way across the nail, completely disappeared! The instruction say repeat the process 2 or 3 times for extra strength, so I buffed the surface and did it again. By this point, my nail looked a little 'cloudy', so I used my own very fine buffer, which brought it back to looking about 90% the same as my other nails. This was 4 days ago, since when I have had my nails 2 different colours, and even using (acetone free) nail varnish remover hasn't hurt the repair. Once varnished, the repaired nail is completely indistinguishable from my other nails. No lumps, no visible thickness. Brilliant! I have taken 1 star off as the glue pot is so tiny, so the value for money is questionable, but I'll let you know!

I've wasted money on nail glue for years, they never work but this does. It's strong and once filed flat with a nail buffer, it's just like your natural nail again. Very quick and easy to use. Even a small split on the side of the nail, I found this repair worked better if you coat the whole nail. I also found it better to wait a while before filing the nail flat so the gel repair is hard enabling me use the the most coarse side of a nail buffer to get the smoothest result. Definitely recommend this. At last a nail repair that works well, an excellent product.

The product is easy to use (instructions are provided) In summary- clean the nail, paint the liquid on top and dip into the powder (each nail individually), buff. It states to repeat 3 times, plus only on the areas which are damaged, but I found this left a large bump on my nails. I also used combined this with the silk wraps for extra strength. The best method I found; do one layer, buff (better to use a 4 way buffer, as the file includes isn’t that great) then repeat as required Removal; file the top layer, soak in acetone nail varnish remover for 5-10 min (put remover on cotton wool, and wrap around nail, cover in clips/ foil and leave) This made it turn to jelly and made it easier to peal off. I have used it after returning from holiday after my nails were damaged from the water. By creating a single layer across the entirety of each nail. Therefore, strengthening each nail and preventing breakages. Recommended! Overall- positives; Easy to do (with practice) Definitely provides strength Can be used across the entire nail Easy to remove Negatives and why not 5* Product can be a bit messy (put the powder on paper to prevent too much spillage) It can easily build into a thick layer which isn’t easy to buff down Worn on holiday and it broke off one nail (but I will still use as it supports the nail overall) It gives a lump effect if just on the tip I’m continuing to use and happy with the results with practice!

This is a great kit for repairing split nails especially low down the nail. Very quick and easy to use. It took about five minutes and the repair was done. I painted the nail afterwards and was perfect. So far it has lasted so hopefully will keep nail going until the split grows out.

I had a nail that had started to break below the bed and i was keen to prevent the pain of that. This seemed to work a treat at first. The nail appeared glued and it stopped it catching and lifting, but the following day the nail lifted again and although i tried to glue it again it didn't work. My nail did break off low in the end. I've got the repair kit now and would try it again, but couldn't say if it would be effective enough to allow the nail to grow out and then repair with a nail file.

My nail has partially split from the rest of the nail, just above the nail bed. Used some superglue - probably not the best thing to use but it only glued it together for a couple of hours before it split again. Was at work with a piece of sellotape on it to stop it from cracking any more. Would normally just cut my nail and start again but I have an awards do to go to in a couple of weeks and do not want fake nails. Ordered this product and it came the next day on prime. Took the nail varnish and superglue off. Made sure my nail was dry. Painted on the glue like nail varnish all over the nail avoiding the cuticles then put my finger in the pot of dust. Left it there for a few seconds - doesn’t say on the instructions. Took my finger out of the pot. Blew the remainder dust away as didn’t have a brush on me, then sanded down making it smooth with the file, then repeated and honest to goodness, with a layer of nail varnish you would not know it was broken. The only way you know is when you look at the nail before applying varnish, it looks a kind of chalky white. Can not recommend enough.

I truly cannot rate this product highly enough. In various ways I had removed my professionally applied acrylics during lock down. All my nails badly damaged. One was badly split across the nail bed. My fingers were sore and when this one nail ripped it promised to be be much, much worse. I searched for something to repair it with , without much hope and protecting my broken nail all the while - dreading the imminent pain. Then found this product. Thought it was a tad expensive but thought it was worth the risk to try and avoid ripping my nail off. Thankfully it arrived so quickly. Like and addict I opened it to try immediately. It was so simple to use I cleaned my nail well, maybe with rubbing alcohol and may have buffed slightly for grip - but was difficult as nail was so badly damaged, and dipped three time’s I think. The third just to be safe Then i buffed my nail to smooth. Could/can barely tell it was there. That must be at least 3 weeks ago and the repair is still in place. I also dipped all my nail tips to help prevent them splitting in their weakened state. My nails are well on the way to growing out. I’ve bought everything I need to apply my own acrylic extensions but not sure I need to as I think this product might add the strength to my own nails, which have always been weak, to grow long enough and add polish or gel coat. I usually can’t be bothered to write a review but was really determined to recommend this as I truly cannot rate the product highly enough. There’s plenty of it and it will go far but I will order more if/when I run out.

I would recommend using this for a quick fix. It is basically a mini gel powder kit perfect for a broken nail. Easy to use and dry. The only negative I would say is you need to make sure you keep the solution vertical and standing as it can leak if unsecured. There is plenty of powder and most likely would run out of solution before powder. Make sure you do thin layers and ensure each layer is dried out. Once you have done enough layers buff out to ensure it isn't too bulky and pop on some varnish you won't know half your nail was broken.

Llego antes de tiempo así que fenomenal. Funciona a la perfección. Repara la uña y dura muchísimo tiempo lo cual permite que vaya creciendo la uña sin problema de que se continúe rompiendo. Es bastante difícil retirarlo quizás la próxima vez no lo aplicaré en toda la uña. Muy contenta con la compra. La única pega la lima que viene que es malísima. Por lo demás de 10! Muy útil para tener por casa. Viene en el kit un esmalte y un polvo endurecedor. Se aplica el esmalte y se sumerge inmediatamente en el polvo. También viene con una lima para dejar una textura más suave en la uña (queda como rugosa por el polvo). La lima que viene no es muy útil pero acabe usando una mi y fenomenal. Durará muchísimo tiempo pero repetiré seguro cuando se acabe.

My maternal grandmother was blessed with nails so thick normal clippers couldn't cut them. My mother and - to a slightly lesser extent - I, however, were cursed with my grandpa's family's paper-thin nails. I've only in recent years gotten into nail strengthening supplements & base coats, but there's only so much you can do! Hence growing my nails out comes with relatively frequent heartbreak as my nails inevitably break. One particularly bad break WAY down on the nailbed of my thumb had me temporarily "patching" the issue with gel polish until I could research a better solution; letting it break wasn't an option, as it would expose half my nail bed and be INCREDIBLY painful. This was one fairly well-rated product from a brand I trust so I decided to give it a go. In short, this worked EXACTLY as described and did precisely what I needed it to! The break in my aforementioned thumb nail occurred several weeks ago and has held up (with minor re-patching as it grows out) since. You can see it in the first two pictures with just the Orly Nail Rescue Kit & sanding (thumb photo with the dark background) and then with a clear nail patch sticker and clear basecoat (thumb photo against teal background) as I wasn't initially sure which option would work best to patch the break. Spoiler alert: it's this one! As you can see, in a modest 2-3 layer application where you carefully follow instructions and sand, it becomes darn near invisible. I've included a third photo of another broken nail (photo with the red arrow pointing to where it broke) that received a semi-sheer light pink base. Both patches have held and both nails still intact, with an unfortunately long growing out process ahead of me. If you're going for completely bare nails, you WILL notice a difference between your repaired nail and the others, but only if you're really looking. Under polish, however, you can only really tell that the repaired nail is slightly thicker than the others if you look at it edge-on. Some tips: 1. After you've applied the glue and dipped in the powder, do be sure to give it a minute to dry before you sand it. I recommend using a little nail cleaning brush (the stiff kind you'd use at the sink) to remove excess powder first, then the included sanding pads. This actually gets it pretty darn smooth. 2. I recommend against applying it to the underside of your nail, as tempting as it may be. I did so out of determination to avoid breakage, but I needn't have: repairing the top was enough to hold it. Even with an e-file I couldn't sand the underside of my nail completely smooth & it drives me crazy. 3. If you see the far edge as your nail grows out, you can absolutely glue / dip the new growth to fill the gap. This worked fine for me as long as I filed the top nail bed edge of the existing "patch" to taper it down towards the outgrowth, then filed everything flat carefully after applying the new glue / powder. If I don't do this, the edge is lumpy and I'm inclined to pick at it until it comes up. 4. I'm not an Orly spokesperson (I promise!) but I do happen to really also like their Calcium Shield base & top coat that I highly recommend using on top of the fully cured repair kit to strengthen your nail further. I really have no downsides to this product: it's SUPER quick & easy to apply, the instructions are clear & effective, it sets hard, lasts as long as you need it to, and while my nails haven't grown out far enough for me to completely remove it yet, it gets tacky with a little acetone so I feel it would come off easily when the time comes. I've already recommended this to my mother and will absolutely be keeping some on hand for any future nail breaks!
