Pretty good but....
As in information guide, this book is pretty useful at covering the basics. Just disappointing that a few pages in, it states that DIY isn't just for men.....then informs the intended female audience that we can maybe buy what we need in our favourite colours! On the same page! Made me laugh more than offended but still....

Great book, ideal moving in gift
Got this for my sister after she bought her first house. Aside from the fact there's a woman on the cover (and in all the diagrams), I can't see what exactly differentiates this book from any other non gender specific DIY guide, and I've come to the conclusion that the branding is essentially just a harmless gimmick. However, since all the information inside is all illustrative and useful, and it's packed full of helpful advice, I'm not going to mark it down for that reason. Besides, the woman's DIY book is quite a fun idea, and if it makes DIY accessible to women who might not be interested, all the better. Anyway, surely DIY for men and women is more or less the same, right? And I also assume that as the book has been written by a woman, she's been able to carry out all the work herself, therefore other women should be able to as well. Please hit ‘like’ if you found this review useful!

Great book for the basics
Great stuff - bought for young friend who has bought herself a flat - she's not particularly handy so I thought this would be a useful (basic DIY) book, rather than a hearty plumbing electrical all inclusive for a seasoned homeowner - it covers basics in a Haynes straightforward way and she loves it

Excellent
Excellent book for someone like me who has no more idea how a house works, than my husband knows how to sew.It covers all the basics and although I won’t be ‘doing it myself’ at least I’ll now know what others are talking about!Just what I needed.

Disappointing for a Haynes manual
As a single woman, I was looking forward to getting this book and cracking on with the DIY. However I found it somewhat disappointing. It covered some areas in huge detail (several pages for hanging wallpaper) yet some things felt vague or completely missed some fairly common tasks, covering sockets and switches, but not such dimmer switches, or dealing with stud walls - my Dad has had a lot of issues with my typical new build walls (rawlplugs pulling out etc) so I bought this book thinking it would help me. It hasn’t. You wouldn’t even think it was a potential issue! For anything I don’t already know the basics for, I’ll still to YouTube videos rather than follow this book.

Perfect present for young woman
In my day we had a "bottom drawer" where we collected items that would be useful to us when we left home - with this and the pink tool kit grandaughter is well prepared for independence!
