Duraflame Electric DFI-5020-05 Infrared Quartz Fireplace Stove Heater, Ice Blue

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I've had this stove for 2 & 1/2 weeks and am very pleased with it. It was packed well but there was a tiny dent in the middle of the top lip. Instead of sending back for such a little thing I just removed the top and turned it around to the back. Easy peasy! Yes, this is metal and plastic, which is fine, reasonable, and doesn't detract from the quality or function in any way. The metal sections are needed for the heater area- it DOES get hot- but the plastic is sturdy, cool to the touch, and keeps the weight down. (Many years ago I had an iron wood stove and it took THREE MEN to carry it). 'Nuff said on that! When first fired up for the season it will take a while to get the warmth set but when it does- it's a charm! The log placement enhances the flame effect, making the fire very realistic- the best I've seen so far. One of the main reasons I picked this model is the glass sides. I haven't seen any other stove with that feature and in a small place that extra vision of the fire is really nice. I like all the functions of the remote control too: Timer; Temps; Flames; Night Time. You can use it without opening the door but you can't see the panel. I've noticed it takes two clicks to get to the next level, but to make sure it worked I sometimes open the door. No biggie. My apartment is 575 sq ft and this guy works well to keep me comfortable! I have central heat but don't like it: The blower comes on before the heat (brr) and the heat is dry and dusty (yuck). Not so with this. I've really noticed the lack of static electricity. I usually keep mine set between 66°-70° during the really cold days (0- 30°) and this is working out great. Some say the blower is noisy but for a person like me who loves the silence, this isn't any different than a space heater. In fact, I have two white noise machines because of my neighbors, so the fan is quite soothing to hear, for me. I also purchased the crackling fire sound box (much to high priced IMO) and it's now velcroed underneath in such a way to be out of sight and within reach to turn on or up. I'll have to find out later how much it is per hr to use but I'm sure it won't stop me from using it, 'cause... I LOVE IT!Latest review: as of 11/27/20 (2 yrs) it has stopped working. Not in use during the summer, as usual, I turned it on a week ago and it ran okay for a few minutes, then died. I have tried everything I could, minus taking it all apart, and nothing. I will contact Duraflame to see if they can help and will update later.

This review is for the 5020 model; that's large model which measues 26" tall with legs attached. It's very lightweight; easy to move when doing spring cleaning. I really like the way the fake brick inside the stove, matches the fake brick behind the stove. Makes mine look like it's transparent on every side. Inside, the front center of the grate appeared "empty". I put a couple pieces of charred wood from the backyard firepit there. Very happy with the look... and the heat. Great unit!

This was a life saver when our furnace went out on us and of course when something breaks and you have to buy a new one you have the opportunity to move the item which we did. So needless to say during the 2 months it took us to replace and remodel this kept us toasty and warm even the nights it got -15 degree plus with windchill which made the actual temp much cooler outside. House is just under 2500 sq foot and we had this upstairs and a separate one in our basement. Granted they did run full time cost us obviously more than our furnace would have to heat our home but over all not bad. Now I have a much larger laundry room as they allowed us to move the furnace to a more convenient location. As for looks it is what it is but very beautiful when the fire is going and does add a cozy feel to the room. Will be using this on those early fall/spring days just to remove that chill you feel in the morning or evening instead of running the furnace.

This was a winner!! Keeps our family room toasty warm. We needed this since our wall facing the deck are all French doors and the draft comes in during the winter. Our bulldog is nice and warm now because it keeps the family room so warm!!

Really nice stove looks great, warms my living room my only wish would be to heat the room faster.

I really love this lil fireplace. Puts out enough warmth for my bedroom and has tons of eye appeal. Flames are realistic and provides ambiance while chilling with a glass of wine.
