What are the benefits of adding marimo to my aquarium? Overall, adding any living aquatic plants to your community fish tank is very beneficial. Plants do everything from oxygenating your tank and absorbing toxins to providing your pets with a beautiful natural environment. Marimo moss balls provide all of those great benefits while remaining compact in size and being incredibly low maintenance. How many nano marimo moss balls should I put in my tank per gallon? The quantity of marimo balls you want to incorporate depend on the size of your fish tank and how many fish you have. A one gallon betta tank with only one fish in it will only need a few nano marimos and maybe one or two supplemental plants. The larger the tank and the more fish, the more marimo moss balls you will need in order to be effective. One package of 6 Luffy Nano Marimo Moss Balls would suffice for a one gallon or even 2.5 gallon tank. At least ten nano marimo balls are recommended for 5 gallon tanks and at least 20 to 30 will be needed in a 10 gallon tank to make a significant impact (depending on how many fish you have). The very slow growth rate of marimo (5mm per year) means that you can add plenty without worrying about them overgrowing or taking over your tank. Because there is basically no disadvantage to adding marimo to your community tank and they take up such little space with minimal maintenance. you can add as many as you feel comfortable with and will only have a greater benefit. What do I do when the marimo balls first arrive? When your package of 6 Luffy Nano Marimo Moss Balls arrive, give them a quick rinse before placing them in your fish tank. The balls may float at first, but once they begin to absorb water, they will gain weight and sink to the bottom. Every so often, gently squeeze the marimo balls, roll them around in your hand for a bit to maintain the shape and then place them back in your aquarium.

Would not run away from home or need walks.
My Marimos are happily sitting in the tank. Keep away form direct sunlight. Change water every once or twice a week. Gently roll balls into shape every once in a while. If they turn a bit brown just expose to stronger sunlight for a couple of hours and return to shade (remember to expose brown areas to light). If they start to look less healthy, separate and rinse from healthy ones and soak in saline (3-5 tablespoons of non-iodised salt for every gallon of water or just buy sterile ones from Boots or Superdrug) for a couple of hours in the fridge. Thoroughly but gently rinse before returning to freshwater tank.

THESE ARE NOT LIVING MARIMO MOSS BALLS.
THESE ARE NOT LIVING MARIMO MOSS BALLS. I am a biologist and after realising that mine were not growing or moving in the tank (they should rise off the bottom occasionally as the oxygen they release gets trapped in the structure and makes them buoyant) I put one under my microscope and they are clearly made from synthetic fibres. I thought the price was too good to be true. They look very pretty but they are totally fake and should not be put in a tank with fish in case the fish try to eat them.

Very pleased with my Marimo Moss balls.
Very pleased with my Marimo Moss balls. They were a lot bigger than I thought they would be as many reviews say they are small. I've had them for a few months now, They have grown a little. One did break open when cleaning tank once so i spread it over a rock, It looks great. Would buy again.

Marimos arrived quick and now floating in tank - get yours if you don't have any yet!
My healthy marimo balls arrived only 2 days of ordering them, pretty impressed! Ordered 3 packets which arrived in a flat-packed amazon envelope, they were all little flat shall we say, but after rolling them in my palm they regained the ball shape. The are tiny balls just now, but since I have over 15 of them they are very decorative. They are happily floating in their mini-tank now.Thank you MARIMO PET STORE for my cute little friends!

Fantastic!
Great packaging, exactly as expected.Might be just me but instructions were super clear, until it said:*Do not expose them to direct sunlight or temperature higher than 78F/28CThen later on it said "Just place Luffy ball under strong light or sunlight in a small container.Luffy ball will start bubbling in about 30 min"Didn't affect anything. Just will keep them out of sunlight ( maybe put them in sunlight if they loose colour?)Irrelevant, I would give it 6 stars if I could!Photos not doing these balls of green joy justice!
