It pulls all sorts of crap into the rear bin easily, its quite fast, comes with a decent wire and hook. In fact Silverline would probably say I abuse it, but it still is reliable as can be. These are great little winches for low load work. I had three, now two. Be aware that working with loads over half the rated weight can cause the drum ends to burst. Loads over 1000lbs (500kg) should only be done with a maximum of two wraps of rope on the drum especially if the wraps are ‘slack’ – as they would be, say, with a re-wind after use. The load pressure on the rope winding causes the incoming rope to dig into the spool of wound rope. This spreads sideways and exerts to great a pressure in the drum ends. These are not strong, being of cast aluminium alloy and will part company with the drum core. They are not repairable. This applies to both wire and synthetic ropes, the synthetic (polyester) ones being slightly worse than wire. As I said, good little winches but in need of careful use and treatment. You get what you pay for these days. This is a cheap winch, it does exactly what it says and it works. The control is unusual in that the feed wires go through the control rather than an external relay: the the relay is in the controller. The In/Out buttons are a hard push, a long haul would be tedious. On mine the polarity was crossed, the 'In' button was 'Out' & vice versa - not a problem, just change the wires on the motor, + to -, etc, or in the controller. The alloy main frame casting was poorly finished, it needed the attention of a file so that it sat on the bed plate properly - again no problem if you can handle it but not doing that risks the thing seizing up.. An inexpensive low power winch which does the job I want it for - so I bought two!
