Fan of the Radfan here .......
I have waited a while to review this, to see if it actually does work as I have to admit to being highly sceptical about it! We have lived in our old (1880's) house for 11 years and have always had difficulty in the winter heating the back. We have one radiator running from our central heating system, in our sitting room, which leads through via an archway to our conservatory and kitchen (where there are no spare walls for radiators due to placement of piping and fully fitted kitchen. So, it has always been a struggle to maintain a nice warm temperature, without having an electric radiator on in the conservatory (I tried to buy the most economical one, but still hate using it.) We also have a cuddle chair right in front of the radiator, as it is the only place for it.I can't remember how I stumbled across information on this, I think I was browsing through warehouse deals (I do love a warehouse deal,) and came across it. I decided that for ÂŁ55.99, it was worth a try, as if it did nothing, then I could send it back given Amazon's very good return policy. I also had a good look round at the reviews and realised that it is only a small company that make it and they are really interested in making sure their purchasers are happy with their goods. Anyone who had posted a review about issues, was replied to by one of the guys from the company. That is something so rarely seen these days, so compliments to them on their customer service.I ordered the middle size one and it duly arrived. Let's be honest, it isn't the prettiest thing in the world, but fitted on the top of our radiator perfectly. and we have a power switch right by the radiator, so it was easy to just plug in. I switched the heating on and waited. It takes a while for the fans to kick in, and when they do, it is as others have said a bit of a noise in a quiet room, but if you have the TV on you don't notice it. The one we have has 4 computer fans in it.Here come the compliments, I cannot believe how much difference this makes, it is amazing! I thought it was all psychological at first, that I was just imagining the whole of the back of the house is warmer, I am not. I proved this, when I was sitting at my work desk in the conservatory with my back facing the sitting room and was getting warm air hitting me on the back of my neck. It gets warm air flowing in the sitting room, conservatory and kitchen, no longer do we freeze when we are out there and it is making these spaces much more usable this time of year. Usually we won't sit in the sitting room when it starts to get colder as it isn't a pleasant experience. Now, we are sitting in there in comfort warmth. This is one of the best, most simple things I have ever bought and I really wish I had discovered it a while ago. We also now all clamour to sit on the cuddle chair, because when you sit down, the fan is at the height, where you get a lovely warm breeze on your neck.I have given it 4 stars, because of how ugly it is, I don't know if the top could be better designed to make it look less like a giant periscope, as that is what it reminds me of lol.

Makes a significant difference to a chilly part of my room UPDATED: excellent customer service
I want to provide an update to my earlier review for the Radfan Classic Max. As you will see in my initial review, below, I reported that when it arrived it was in two pieces and I had to click it together. Almost immediately Simon Barker from Radfan contacted me to let me know that it shouldn't have been that way and offered me a replacement. At the time I decided to keep my original as it was sitting comfortably in place. However, as we come towards the end of winter, I'm not sure what happened; maybe it had been knocked or moved during cleaning, but I ended up with it coming apart. I contacted Radfan and I was once again offered a replacement. This in itself is absolutely excellent customer service. However, Simon has gone the extra mile because the parcel company I used to return the faulty one managed to lose it en route and despite not having the faulty one back he honoured his promise to send out a replacement, free of charge.I would just like to end this updated review by summarising that this is a product that has really worked for me all through winter, making a significant difference in a previously chilly large room. I consider it to be well made and a great design. The fact that mine originally arrived damaged (probably in transit) and the excellent service I have received only reinforces my view that Radfan is a company who care about what they produce - and their customers.----- original review -------I started off buying the smallest one, for a study where I work at home. There was a shelf above the radiator and although it was only a small room it never seemed to warm up quickly or 'feel' as warm as it should. I was so impressed I immediately ordered this, the largest in the range. I have a large L shaped kitchen/living area with 2 radiators, one towards the kitchen and one against an outside wall and under a large window in the living area. In addition, there is a bi-fold door on an adjacent wall. Whilst the kitchen area would always warm up and reach temperature, there was always a slight chill in the living area. This led to the heating being turned up and the rest of the area becoming over-warm. I fitted this and within minutes I could feel the slightest hint of warmth coming from the radiator, blowing towards me. The effect is subtle: do not expect this to be like a an electric fan heater. It has, however, transformed the whole sitting area, it is now at the perfect temperature and has allowed me to set a more reasonable temperature for the whole room. These are not cheap - far more expensive that other devices on the market. I once bought one of those cardboard-like tubes with mini fans at either end - that was expensive because it did not work; this has made a massive difference and therefore is paying back its investment everyday (not to mention saving on gas from the lowered temp). The smaller one is very robust, this max size one with 6 fans is like having two smaller ones with a join in the middle. When I opened the box, they were not properly connected (but being held together by the wiring) I had to push-fit the two halves together and I think moving this one from room to room might be a stretch, but having fitted in place it seems secure and robust where it is. It does fit easily on top of the radiator and the magnets do hold it firmly in place. The colour is a perfect match for my radiator (about 2 years old). The larger one has 6 fans. There is a slight hum from it when the room is quiet - it is lost when the TV or radio is on or when people are in the room and talking. It is never an intrusive noise and after a short while you forget it is there. Actually, the smaller one doesn't seem any quieter, but I sit quite close to that and it is in a small room, but again, it is no louder than the hum of my laptop's fan, so not an issue in my opinion. For me, I believe they have been a good buy and have improved a problem I have struggled with for a long time. I highly recommend them

Works well but has its downsides.
Live in an old house, the master bedroom has a large bay window and the room always feels cold in comparison to the rest of the house. Decided to try this to see if I could get the heat circulating. The product is easy to install, fitting to the radiator securely in seconds, the awkward part is routing the power cable to a nearby plug socket.Once the heating is on, depending on how long the heat takes to reach your radiator will affect how long it takes for the Radfan to switch on, the heat reaches my radiator quickly so within 15 minutes the Radfan switches on and starts to work.I know it isn't winter yet but I can feel the difference with having this working, the chill has been taken from the room and it feels more comfortable. So downsides, as mentioned, this is in a bedroom so once the Radfan switches on you hear the fans whirring away, when it is very quiet they sound quite loud so if you are sensitive to noise the whirring can be annoying. The only other downside I have noticed is that when the radiator is heating up or cooling down the plastic body of the Radfan does the same, this causes a creaking sound which again can be annoying. All said, happy with the purchase, one star deducted due to the above reasons.UPDATE.The Radfan has been in use for a while now and the weather has certainly got colder. I really can feel the temperature difference in the room when the Radfan is running. To alleviate some of the noise due to it being in the bedroom I have plugged it into one of my Hive plugs and set it to turn on and off on timed settings so as it doesn’t hinder my sleep.Still recommend the product.
