Define & Shine Custard 340g

Hair products, especially for curly hair, is a long road of discovery. For me, this product is not ideal - although I was drawn to this product from high praise. My hair is previously chemically treated / damaged and dry so requires a lot of protein, yet needs moisture, but it doesn’t like it in Almost equal measure!! I have used this product many times and although it creates a good cast of curl, it doesn’t retain curl pattern between washes. Good product if you want a soft non defined curl & rather a fluffy relaxed look.

I don't under why people are giving this good reviews or how is it that the product is working for them. It is the worse ever. I followed the application instructions and it was good when I applied the cream and it smells great. But after it dried, my hair was stiff like sand paper and totally covered in flakes. The flakes stuck to my ears, back of my neck and my blouse covered with dried flakes. Its like someone emptied the hoover bag on my head. I had to wash it off again, which is totally pointless. Flaky hair gels/creams are thing of the past. like way back in the 1980s when I used to see adults hairs covered in them. The ingredients should be changed like those in modern products, or this product should not be on the market. In order for me to submit this review, unfortunately the system is forcing me to give it at least one star.

This product did not work well for my 4c natural hair. It was great when my hair was wet and gave me well defined curls. However once dry, the product made my hair very crunchy. It also left a flaky white residue, especially when I mixed it with Cantu's curling cream. It made me look like I was suffering from very bad dandruff! Really disappointed because Cantu's products are usually great for my hair.

This stuff is awful! It literally made my hair go like rock hard straw! When put in my daughters hair who has tight spiral afro hair, it made it go rock hard and white and flakey once dry. It’s like a strong gel! Feels lovely when applying, and seems to detangle, but awful once dry. Not what it is described as being. Really disappointed because i love this product range, but this one let it down.

Over the years I have trialed many different hair products to achieve luscious curly locks with varying degrees of success. I managed to find a product which is incredible, but when I ran out last week and there wasn’t any in stock, I was forced to find an alternative. This product was recommended by Amazon and had glowing 5* reviews (WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?!) so I gave it a whirl and I can say without a drop of hesitation that this is, hands down, THE WORST curling cream product I’ve ever purchased. The product itself has the gloopy consistency you might expect of a result of a particularly snotty sneeze during a particularly dreary winter cold. It’s almost impossible to scoop from the tub in a good measure, so you easily either use too little or too much or end up wasting a load. The scent of the product was, at first, pleasant. However the scent has a pungent staying power which you still get whiffs of throughout the day and rather turns my stomach. Sickly. Chemically. Gross. Worse than all this is the effect it has on hair. I did not achieve the consistent bouncy curls I’ve come to expect from my normal product. The only thing consistent as a result of using this product was the sheer inconsistency of results. Some parts of my hair curled, some went wavy and some has never been straighter and flatter! When dry, the product holds in crunchy chunks, like you might get using hair gel. Luckily I’ve not had any suitors rushing to run their hands through my hair! The crunchy touch of the “curls” becomes flakey when played with, leaving a suspiciously dandruff-like residue on your shoulders. The hair feels limp and fly-away, has no volume, and feels somewhat itchy. A disastrous and disappointing result- every day since using this product has been a bad hair day. Just as an incidental extra- if your hair becomes a little wet during the day, say if you get a bit rained on or become a wee bit sweaty, then this product feels repulsive, like you’ve just been slimed on a 90’s kids TV show. The effect on ones skin is horrible, I’ve found myself getting rashes on my forehead and neck as a result. A unique experience. The final nail in the coffin- and I’m no hair-specialist boffin able to describe this properly- is that when washed out, this product has left my hair feeling dried out and melted. I’ve had to use (very expensive) hydration masks nightly to stop it feeling and looking like straw. How?! Why?! Insane! So… just don’t.

First time trying this product.................and the last. I use the Cantu curl activator so thought this would be the perfect addition-it is not. More a water texture than a custard. Sloppy and watery, it's only redeeeming feature is the scent. Asked other users in a curly girl group about the texture which told me to put it in the fridge-made no difference whats so ever. Makes hair straw like and stiff, no assistance to my curls. I would not recomend this product at all-maybe it's a dodgy batch?

Hi I been using cantu for years. I have Nubian hair. For shine this product actually just works like a gel that doesn’t stick so I wouldn’t say it’s the best plus it’s form is quite thin so it doesn’t really do anything. Your just stuck with gue. Your best bet is using a curl cream from cantu. I use that too. It’s good.

Usually a gel like consistency, this tub was pure liquid! It’s totally useless to me. I’ve used and ordered this product multiple times and have never seen it like this. I also noticed it was the old label / packaging, not as pictured! Very disappointed with this seller. Refund from Amazon has been issued however.

Mi pelo es ondulado si lo dejo secar al aire y no le echo ningún producto. Con muy poca cantidad de Cantú y secado con difusor consigo rizar mi pelo como cuando era una niña. La definición del rizo es estupenda. Lo utilizo todos los días ya que me lavo el pelo a diario. No reseca. Lo uso hace varios años. Tiene un ligero aroma a coco aunque desde que cambiaron la fórmula apenas se percibe. Estoy encantada con él.

Works like magic, from dry and brittle to perfect moisture and endless curls. Absolutely amazing product. Highly recommend 👍🎉💫✨

It's a gel not a cream as the description mentioned.

smell is good and very good for curly hair!
