Remastered and pressed on 180g vinyl this special edition has initial pressings on NEON YELLOW vinyl. With a newly designed inner bag this is the first of our Thompson Twins re-issues. Originally released in February 1983, Quick Step & Side Kick was the bands first album as a trimmed down trio of Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie and Joe Leeway. Produced by Alex Sadkin the album was recorded at Island Records Chris Blackwells Compass point Studio's in the Bahamas. Grace Jones a frequent user of the studios makes a guest appearance on the track 'Watching', though her vocals were not in the final mix used as the single version. The album was released in numerous versions across the World and the cassette version of the UK Editions featured a host of extra 12inch mixes. Many of these will feature in our 2LP deluxe edition due out later in 2016 which will contain brand new sleeve notes by Tom Bailey. The album contains four singles' 'Lies' a No1 USA Dance hit and the two Top 10 UK hits 'Love On Your Side' and 'We Are Detective'. "Watching' the final single from the album reached 33 in the UK chart. The band took their name from two characters in Belgian cartoonist Herge's comic strip 'The Adventures of Tintin'. Thomson and Thompson were two incompetent detectives who though not related looked identical save for different shaped moustaches. With a fluid line up which at times reached upto 7 members on stage, a change in musical direction took Tom Bailey, Alannah Curry and Joe Leway in a more mainstream direction than those of the early days of the first two albums; A Product of... (Participation) and Set which where were far more experimental, than Quick Step or anything that followed. Chart success in the UK and Europe and in the USA soon followed and set the band on what proved to be their most successful global selling period.

Great Album. This group passed me when I was younger and never gave it much thought. Nice to own now.
Always liked a few of the Thompson Twins singles when they came out in the 80's. But never considered owning any of their Albums. Bought this with Into the Gap. And haven't been disappointed. Especially with these releases with the 2-CD sets with cassette remixes and 12" ones. Not stopped listening to them on my I-devices since. If you like their single releases would recommend these. Not bothered about their later albums, except big trash which I might get next if there is a Deluxe release made.

love on your side! Ltd edition Yellow Vinyl version.
The twins! even though they are a trio! This album is a stunner and will get you bopping around the house on full volume, watch the speakers though! it's got a mean bass line on this album. "we are detective" "watching" and "love on your side" rip through this album "judy do" has great drums! if you have top notch HiFi you will love this album as it's not only fun but grabs your attention with it's bright clean sound. Good pop! Stunning yellow vinyl edition of release on 180g vinyl takes full advantage of compass point recording. Buy it soon before its deleted.

Joy Oh Joy !
Yet another Re-Release of Quick Step, but this time with the good bits, i.e. The cassette remixes! Thought, by most fans, to be lost forever. You will probably already know what an exellent album this is anyway ( in my view, the best T.T. release ) But hats off to Edsel for such a well packaged product, with nice history fold out page. The sound quality is near perfect. If you only buy this disc for Frozen in Time/Fallen Out ( cassette extended remixes, my personal favorites ) you won't be dissapointed. Oh, and there is a second disc too, with 12" mixes, which have been previously released on other compilations, but still worth a listen. It's a joy to hear these cassette mixes in a digital "un-hissy" format for the first time ( I don't think cassettes were ment to played constantly for over 20 years ).

This is pure nostalgia for me, I used to love the Thompson Twins and this is my favourite album by them. The remix tracks are an added bonus (they were available before with the cassette release I believe)

Bought this several times on different formats. A brilliant album that was way ahead of it's time in terms of production technology and fashion. Fantastically written material! My favourite track being "If You Were Here". I was very pleased to receive it on yellow vinyl.
