Hario Next 5-Cup Syphon, Glass

Loving this! Great price, costs £120 from Hario.I usually like to use an aeropress, but I got this to make a larger volume of coffee in one go. This being the case, it's safe to assume you're making coffee for a group, for that reason this method has a great entertainment value and gets people fired up.Just a few details about this... I can't remember if it's mentioned in the specs here, but the lower vessel holds 600mls (five cups my a**!).I was very pleased to see that this comes with both the fabric filter AND the metal one, I nearly bought the fabric one separately, glad I didn't.It also comes with a plastic measuring/stirring spoon, which is a nice bonus.There is the alcohol burner, but I didn't even take this out of the plastic. It doesn't allow the heat adjustment required for an "off boil" brew technique. Something to think about if you don't like burnt coffee! Not recommended by Hario; but personally I take the pan support off my hob and place the base of the siphon around the small ring. May not work on all hobs but works a treat for me (and no, unless the flame on your hob is really wide, you won't melt the stand), and unlike the alcohol burner, you won't stain the glassware. Of course you can always get the recommended butane burner (which I found very hard to find!) Or a £400+ "smart" halogen ring heater.... Choice is yours :)In summary though, I really couldn't be happier with this and it's worth every penny of the £120 that Hario are asking, so represents a huge bargain.

I purchased this item for my birthday because I heard the syphon brewing technique was the best. The coffee it produces is tasty, and the brewing process is therapeutic.I had a problem with the top bowl of the original syphon that was delivered, but the seller was very helpful in getting me a replacement part for this and very polite. I would not hesitate to shop with this seller again. Many thanks!

Cloth & mesh.• silicone ergonomic handle.• Aesthetic look is pleasing to the eye.What I didn’t like:• Had a little manufacturing dust/debris on it, so give it a good wash before use. It's a beautiful device, nice experience and the build quality is excellent. Now I am disappointed with the burner. The Hario brand and other users recommends a gas burner( rekrow), and I had to purchase that. Why don't hario include the gas burner and remove the useless alcohol burner ?

This has got to be the most fun coffee / tea maker on the market. I use it to make amazing Rooibos.I recommend a butane burner to go with it rather than the alcohol burner it comes with.

Unfortunately the item was delivered with glass part smashed so has been returned. Item is now currently out of stock so am looking forward to seeing it in action when another one can be delivered.

I wanted to test coffee syphons for a while and went for this one.It's very easy to use and comes with a metallic and cloth filter.The coffee was really good and I'm considering now trying with more premium coffee. The coffee seems less bitter and more savoury.I take one star away because of the burner: I think it takes a lot of time to get the water boiling and above all it leaves a lot of burns marks on the glass... from the first use! I ordered a mini gaz burner which hopefully will correct these 2 issues. But that's adding more costs to an already expensive coffee maker!

Great thing I found, but I have some problem to remove the soot from bottom of the flask.

Really cool coffee maker. We saw this in Starbucks in Chicago and really wanted to buy it but didn't want to haul it back to FL in our suite case. Found it on Amazing and we love it. Makes some really tasty coffee. Recommend using a sterno and not the alcohol burner it comes with. The sterno burns cleaner and doesn't turn the base black.Super cool to watch it brew. Our Granddaughter thinks it's cool. I think we found a new gift to buy people for Christmas.

Quand vous avez le temps de préparer et prendre un vrai café.

I visited a tea bar in Ukraine many years ago in which they used these to brew tea at each table. I finally got one, and I love it! I use Nanoprotect Bioethanol 96.6% with the included burner and my tea brews within 20 minutes with room-temperature water. It obviously brews faster when starting with warmer water. Not my top choice for brewing coffee, but I’m a coffee aficionado who loves strong coffee.

I love this unit, works like a charm.I am a coffee nut, i have a french press, pour over and the cuisinart pourover coffee maker. This is now my preffered method. It comes with a cloth and stainless steel coffee filter. I have been using the cloth filter and it produces a nice mellow brew. If you prefer a more bitter and oily brew the steel or french press might be for you.Its fun to watch and is a conversation piece. Because you need to use the burner you can make coffee right at the table. And do buy the gas burner, it heats the water much faster than the alcohol burner that comes with it.

Fascinado con esta cafetera, al principio pensé que era algo lenta su forma de hacer el café pero me di cuenta que este proceso hace que el café sepa realmente delicioso porque como el agua no hierve con el cafe sino aparte, solo sube el agua en forma de vapor lo que hace que el café vaya soltando su sabor poco a poco a diferencia de las cafetera que hacen café espresso de estufa que tan pronto hierve el agua sube al cafe pasando muy rápido sin dejar que suelte su sabor.Ademas algunas recomendaciones del mismo producto te sugieren que compres un mechero de otra marca y no usar el que ya viene incluido solo porque el de la otra marca haría el proceso mas rápido pero esto le cambia el sabor al cafe porque hace lo mismo que las cafeteras para cafe espresso, lo que yo hice fue usar alcohol de tapa roja que tiene un poco mas de grados que el de la tapa azul, y esto hace que la flama del mechero sea más intensa pero la verdad me quede con el alcohol de tapa azul porque hace el proceso más lento y el sabor del café cambia, claro que como en otros comentarios te recomiendan calentar el agua en la estufa antes de ponerlo en la cafetera y esto hace el proceso mas rápido, por lo que tendrás listo tu café entre 5 o 10 minutos. depende del tipo de alcohol que uses.Por otro lado la limpieza es super fácil solo necesitas un cepillo delgado para lavar biberones y listo. no gastas en filtros de papel porque viene uno de tela pero también los hay de papel que puedes comprar en amazon pero eso depende de cada quien aunque yo me quedo con el de tela.Yo deje de usar mi cafetera habitual desde que compre esta y la verdad que sí te da el verdadero sabor del café, además de que te rinde casi 2 tazas regulares. lo suficiente para el cafe madrugador.
