The Last of Us Remastered (PS4)

I bought this game after reading many reviews, both good and bad, but most were good.It came, I slapped it in, finished loading and away I went.I was expecting one of those games where you shoot and kill everything that moves before it kills you … and in a big way it is. But there’s a lot more too it than your average slaughter anything that moves genre of games.You’re Joel, (most of the game anyway) and you’re a ‘delivery guy’ who takes ‘packages’ from A to B. A Postman Pat meets Resident Evil sort of thing.In this game your ‘package’ is a 14y/o girl named Ellie, (It’s not a spoiler as she’s on the front cover).Anyway, there’s something special about this ‘package’ and it’s imperative she gets to point ‘B’ in one piece, where she will be handed over to the ‘fireflies’That’s the game, in a nutshell. But playing this game through something I found rather special indeed.It’s starts gentle, edging you into what does what and how you can do it, then the proverbial poop really does hit the fan.This isn’t just a game where you fight infected people who want to rip out your throat and eat your liver raw, although there are what seems like thousands of those infected psychos, ‘Runners’ ‘Stalkers’ ‘Clickers’ and ‘Bloaters’ each one having different ways in which they want to rip you apart if they get their hands on you.The other enemies are other people, hunters, who run large sections of the cities and treat people like Joel and Ellie going through, (Tourist) as target practice. So to get through large swaths of streets and buildings you have to either fight or avoid these nutters too. And unlike the infected, who are quite ‘readable’ in their movements, the hunters move of their own free will.My first sitting I shot and tried to kill everything in sight, big man, big guns, big whatsits. But soon realised that, in many cases, stealth is much more effective than fire power, and, with limited ammo and other weapons, it’s sometimes best to creep about in the shadows.The weapons themselves are your basic survival weapons, there’s no laser guided nuclear warheads strapped to a motorbike helmet. You’ve simply got shotguns, browning, 6 shooter, hunting rifle etc. and a knife, let’s not forget the knife. The knife is important and will be used lots. You get ammo, along the way, ammo often comes from the people/infected you kill.Other weapons are available, but you have to collect things along the way to make these weapons, (as you would if you found yourself in such a scenario) Items are scattered everywhere, so keep your eyes out. Once you’ve collected certain items you make your weapons, and also your first aid kit to stay alive, (staying alive’s pretty useful).You meet help along the way and lose help along the way. There are moments where the game allows you to have a breather, playing a few seconds of a movie, (which you can skip – but watch them first time round as they really do add to the thrill of the game) There’s one ‘movie’ where a budding friendship for Joel and Ellie suddenly ends in a brutal fashion.Anyway, I think I’ve waffled enough about this game. I could say a lot more as there’s a lot to say, I mean, if this was a movie, which, thanks to some remarkable work from the people at NaughtyDog, it very nearly is, I’d pay good money to watch it. If you watch out for the little things, the movements of Joel and Ellie. Simply expressions, quick, yet slight actions you’d expect to see in a movie, ie, Ellie’s actions actually mimicking a true teenage girl. Even brief moments when you know Joel is seeing his own daughter in Ellie. It’s little things like that that NaughtyDog have thought about, and it works exceptionally well.I apologise for the length of this writing but a game like this is hard to sum up in a nutshell.If you’re after a game that requires a few grey cells as well as the usual all out firepower to get to the end, and a story which will have you wanting to play on to the end, just to see what happens, then this is for you. Without a doubt you will enjoy playing it, more than once.

Anyone who questions the validity and medium of computer games should start here. I hate most computer games. 95% of them are rubbish! This however is a Masterclass of how to get it right.The Author/Director Neil Druckman is more than a computer game engineer. He is an artist, a pioneer and a modern day Orson Wells. To create a visible cast of characters out of nothing and make the world fall in love with them is nothing short of genius. For one Ellie is a beautiful child. A piece of animated fiction with more spirit, character, presence and depth than the entire cast of Kardashians (and that is not an exaggeration). I marvelled at the Youtube footage of grown men and women almost in tears and disbelief at the reveal of Part II (due for release in 2019). Simply because they will get another chance to explore and mentor Ellie on her journey once again.With Part II on the horizon buying this for the 3rd time (as I gave my previous copies to friends who refuse to give it back!) was a must. The relationship between Joel and Ellie trumps any father daughter movie relationship i've seen since Leon. To be fair it is so immersive that that even Leon comes up short. The killing is intense and brutal. You never take anyone or any moment for granted the first time you play.It effortlessly covers themes such as the death and loss of a child, insecurities of being a single parent, pedophilia, suicide x2, poverty, homo-sexuality, murder and attempted rape of a minor. All the while doing everything in your limited power to protect and safely deliver the saviour of the human race.The world that is created though linear feels vast and real. I watched I am legend, and I enjoyed I am legend but this game exceeds both the highlights and limitations of the movie. This is the best zombie movie experience that I have had since an afternoon showing of Dawn of The Dead at my cousins house as a child.I fell in love with the Zombie genre that day and The Last Of Us recaptured the spirit of that moment. GTA V may have grossed £6 Billion in sales and sold over 95 Million units worldwide but some forget that it lost game of the year to this title.Described by one critic as the Citizen Kane of computer games. I cannot disagree. Take my money.

So I avoided this game for years based on the fact 'it's not my thing'. I'm a first-person shooter/RPG guy. Though due to the rave reviews it had and in part to needing a game to fill a temporary void, I gave it a pop.Impressed. No like the 'silent hill' type games that are just one dull story after another.. this story is strangely engaging and you want to keep playing.Ganeplay itself and graphics are good, but the beauty is in the storyline and the relationship between the characters, it's really like playing a main protagonist in a thriller of your own.To be honest, still not overly sure on what the storyline 'is' other than I want to 'read' on.Will be getting the new one too. Different, yet good.

In its day this game was a star of the PS3 line up.In its remastered from it still a tight, story lead "end of the world" adventure that manages to tug on a heart string or two.OK control but occasionally struggles with camera angles and trigger points .Gun upgrades was not my bag. Would like to see experience points for better aim.Still, good.

On the PS3 it was THE GAME. Well what can I say. Naughty Dog. This game is soooo good. Enjoyable

Awesome game for awesome price.If you didn't play the original on PS3 buy this version right away.If you player original one then it is not must have but still worth it.

Game worked fine but the box was a fake. Not sure if the disc was too.Box looked like a home print out.

This game's a masterpiece fr , everything is great , every detail and the graphics are amazing , the motion capture etc. A must play game of you have a ps4 5 star for the packing and for the game.

The story, characters, environments, and atmosphere are some of the best ever in videogame history. The graphics are a bit outdated but are still pretty damn good for today's standards.This is one of the best games I've ever played and easily one of Playstation's best games.

The last of us, este fue el primer título que jugué para la consola PS4 hace ya unos años, es en definitiva a mi parecer la mejor exclusiva de PS hasta el momento, por algo fue nombrado juego del año, (Uncharted y God of war igual son excelentes), te envuelve en su historia desde el primer momento, *SIN SPOILERS*, es un juego de acción-aventura, supervivencia y horror, donde el personaje principal Joel tiene la misión de contrabandear a través de la ciudad a una joven llamada Ellie luchando contra la milicia y los seres post-apocalípticos que se presentan, tiene uno de los mejores soundtracks para videojuegos que puede haber, en esta versión remasterizada que en sí no hay una gran mejora comparada con las gráficas de ps3 pero viene con el DLC left behind, donde utilizas a Ellie como personaje principal, es corta pero la historia en este DLC igual es bastante buena, es en definitiva un juego que debes de tener si tienes un play station 4. En definitiva, aún siendo en lo personal alguien que juega principalmente en computadora, por este juego vale la pena tener un PS4, si no lo tienes en tu colección aún, estas desperdiciando una de las mejores si no la mejor exclusiva que playstation tiene hasta el momento.
