Works perfectly with the new mac pro and old 27inch imac screens (USB only not the firewire ones)

I bought this in October 2017 to use with my Macbook Pro with a Dell u2715h. Several times a day, the screen blacks out and I have to spend time unplugging the adapter from the display port cable and reconnecting. Then plugging the adapter end into each of the two usb-c ports on my MBP until the screen connects - it's very annoying and interrupts my workflow.Yesterday, I plugged the adapter into my laptop and nothing, the Dell screen would not connect at all. After unplugging, reconnecting and trying in each usb-c port I smelled burning. The adapter stinks of burning metal and plastic. So far it's great. I have an "old" 2011 iMac which I now use as an external monitor. It does the job.

Successfully connect a new MacBook Pro 2016 USB-C to an Apple LED Cinema display with a Minidisplay connector.

Very unreliable connection. Several times a day the display cuts out and have to repeatedly unplug and replug in other ports until it reconnects. It then sometimes stays solid for a while or cuts out again after a few minutes. Socket is also slightly shorter than mini display port plug, leaving about 2mm of the plug exposed. Adaptor isn't marked with any of the required hallmarks like CE so I suspect it's not even safe to use (I just noticed one reviewer said that theirs caught fire!)

WARNING: This unit did not work for me using an Apple MacBook Pro (2016) USB-C and Apple Thunderbolt 27inch screen. Looks like I'll have to buy Apple adapter at over twice the cost.

Inutilisable. Acheté afin de permettre le branchement d’un écran Apple 27” de 2011 sur MBP 2016. Ça flash alternativement sur le MBP et sur l’écran mais sans jamais stabiliser l’acquisition de l’écran externe. Impossible à utiliser.
