It's not that the moves are hard or particularly tricky; they are just difficult if you do them correctly which the point of Pilates! If you are familiar with the principle then this is a very enjoyable DVD. What you get: 50 minute workout broken down into 5x10 min segments. There is a custom feature which allows you to create a workout of any length and in any order of the each of the 5 segments. The sections cover: Abs: tough 10 min of upper and lower abs work using classic Pilates moves that are modified to make them tougher. Arms: classic Pilate's moves like hug-a-tree using light weights. Legs and bum: hip and leg strengthening moves -mostly floor work. Silhouette: whole body moves that target arms legs & core simultaneously using ballet and Pilates inspired moves. Stretch: delicious stretches for the whole body esp. legs hips and lower back with some yoga inspired moves. If I'm really tired I just do this section. Results: I've been using this DVD for two months and aim to use it daily but at least 4 times a week - I do the whole DVD in sections throughout the day if I'm busy. I've lost half a stone but I've experienced a more profound inch loss - 3 from each leg, 5 from hips and 4 from waist. I have an almost flat belly and I've had lots of compliments on my good posture and toned figure. I've really enjoyed this DVD and combine it with my other fitness DVDs for a complete workout. I've noticed a real improvement in my flexibility as well, and my backache has all but gone. No 1 DVD will suit everyone but I've always been a fan of Pilates and highly recommend this one. Of all my Pilates workouts this one has given me the best results. I usually do the whole thing and it is a fantastic workout that both energises and relaxes. The best part is that each set honestly doesn't feel like 10 minutes, more like 5 (except the arm set, which is a killer!). Of course you don't have to do the whole lot in one go, but there isn't really enough cooling down in each set to get away with not doing the final stretching routine, so I would always recommend doing this part even if you only choose one other set. The instructor is one of my favourites - she is inspiring, speaks clearly, and places good emphasis on the breathing throughout. I would recommed this to anyone who wants to try pilates at home, or who is used to it but needs some fresh inspiration.

Excellent toning and strengthening workout!
I've been doing Pilates on-and-off for about 5 years now and love the way it strengthens you and gives you good posture. Really like this DVD but please take your time!
I bought this dvd based on the positive reviews it had received, and after having used it 3 times in the first week I am glad I bought it. I am fortunately naturally slim, so this is not to aid weight loss. I am however am very weak and would like to not only build strength but add definition to my body and also sort out lower back pain (as my physio had recommended pilates would definately help). It is split into 5 sections: Arms- I have low upper body strength and didn't even need hand weights to feel my muscles burning! Abs- This is a manageable challenge Bums n thighs- definitely feel the burn! Silhouette- good extra Stretch- important end as your muscles will thank you after the burn they are feeling. I like that each section can be played through, used alone, or in the order you want. I like to start with the stretching and finish with the stretching, as I would like to increase my flexibility. Plus Points about the dvd: I actually like the presenter, Suzanne, she is not annoying and doesn't have impossibly long legs!! The exercises are challenging and I am sweating by the end, so they must be working. I really do enjoy the fact that 10 minute chunks are so manageable that I have done the whole dvd each time and not become bored. My only concerns: I do think that some, or a lot, of the exercises need to be done A LOT SLOWER than the speed she does them at. This is because a) done slowly, the exercise is harder and therefore more effective, and b) there is a chance of injury by doing them so fast, and also not getting the maximum benefit. I also modify some of the mat work as there is no way my wrists can take so much pressure. I ALWAYS hold the stretches for much longer than she does as again, there is no point in rushing through something so important. I can see myself realistically using this dvd for a long time, and I am excited by the prospect of actually achieving a 'Pilates Perfect Body', as cheesy as that sounds. I have bought the Pilates Slim and Sculpt that uses bands, but I'll stick at this for a few weeks before going on to anything harder. Overall very happy :)

great DVD
This is only the second exercise DVD I've bought, and I have found it really useful. I'm really no fitness freak, and decided to go for this because I have noticed myself getting slowly and steadily out of shape and wanted to hold back this depressing decline! The routines are well explained, challenging but achievable, and (dare I say it, as someone who was determined to do exercise only reluctantly) quite enjoyable. They leave you feeling awake and relaxed, and ready for more challenging exercises if you feel so inclined afterwards. I have been doing a mix of this DVD, long walks and aerobics (no dieting) and have noticed a definite difference in body shape and muscle tone over only three weeks. The section 'Pilates Perfect Belly' has given particularly noticeable results. I now have visible muscle tone where previously there was only a light covering of flab. I would definitely recommend this.

Easy and brief
This video contains some good exercises, but you do them for a very short amount of time. As such I think any improvements you would see would be from getting the knack of the technique rather than particularly improving your strength. The arm workout is okay as you can up the weights to make it more challenging. The belly workout seems too brief to do much in the way of developing your abdominal muscles. The leg workout is okay with some tricky moves. The perfect silhouette workout doesn't push any one area particularly hard but might help improve balance. The stretch is a useful 10 minute routine to have handy if you have done some other form of workout. I think to see improvements from this DVD you would have to double up each section, especially the belly workout. Other reviewers say the sections seem to go by in five minutes rather than ten, and this is because you will most likely feel like you have only done a few minutes work whereas I would like to feel like I have made the most of my time exercising, and that is not the case with this DVD.

Excellent, simple, effective!
I bought this as I suffer from bad posture (mostly due to lazy lower back muscles) and was instructed by my physiotherapist to take up pilates to strengthen my core. Being a student I can't afford gyms with decent classes so I thought a home workout DVD was the best option, and it was! The DVD is made up of simple moves that are easy to get the hang of, but do not be fooled! As most of the other reviewers have said they are HARD! When I first started I often found myself having to rest for a few seconds in the middle of each segment and I still ache the day after (which I like, I know I have worked hard), but don't be put off. Once you get the hang of it you can keep up and perform the moves better and better. Pilates is one of those things that the more you do the more effective it becomes as you'll be able to stretch further and hold the poses for longer. The segments are well paced and interesting and the instructor is very easy to follow (I was a total pilates novice when I got this) and as some other reviewers have noted she is succinct and to the point without skimping on necessary details. I always feel great after I do this and it helps my posture and backache a lot! I can feel the stretch in the muscles for a long time afterwards.

Great DVD and it works!
I bought this DVD two weeks ago. To cut a long story short I have a one year old son who keeps me very busy so visting the gym etc is just not happening at the moment. I bought this DVD becaus.e it's broken up into 10 minute sections and that would fit in with a busy day and it absolutely does! So far I have been doing 20 minutes a day which is belly and arms one day and then belly and legs another day. The workouts are an intense 10 minutes but enjoyable at the same time. I find that after the workout I feel energised and very warm! I have noticed results already, even my Husband said he can see a difference! The presenter is excellent. She literally gets straight to the point and is very encouraging. I would definitley recommend this to all busy people out there, plus anybody who just wants a really good fitness DVD!

A great DVD for reducing your wobbly bits and flab
I haven't been to any pilates classes so I can't compare this with organised classes, but this DVD seems to be a mixture of ballet dance, yoga and strength training. Each 10 minute section uses standing and mat work to target a specific body part: Arms: you will need light hand weights - this will work your arms, shoulders, upper back and chest. Perfect belly: lots of original moves here, lots of twisting while you strengthen your core. bums and thighs: lots of bum lifts and leg raises to tone and lift those problem areas. Pefect silhouette: a 10 minute section using a mix of the instructor's fav moves to create sexy curves Perfect stretch: this is designed to make everyday movements more easier and improve your whole posture. Everytime I use this DVD I am tired afterwards (but in a good way!) - its tough and challenging. Even though you only use light hand weights I am thankful it is only 10 minutes - its that challenging. This presenter is fast becoming one of my favourites as she is so friendly, professional and clear. She emphasizes the correct body position - but without too much chatter. Theres no unnecessary faffing around - you just get on with the exercises. I think the 10 minute solutions series are ideal for anyone who wants to get fit but hasn't got the time. You can create your own custom workout by programming any of the segments in the order you select. I never get bored as I am always doing something different.

Awesome Pilates Workout for intermediate to advanced
I considerd myself pretty well-versed in Pilates after mastering Lara Hudson's two DVDs and Suzanne's other "Slim and Sculp Pilates" DVD. I was excited when I found this DVD because I loved Suzanne in "Slim and Sculpt" and "Belly Blast." She is cute, fit, and gives GREAT instruction on form, timing, and breathing. This DVD is nothing short of an amazing workout. My only caution is... don't use this as a beginner or if you are not familiar with Pilates moves. This is a fast-paced, high intensity workout. The belly section is cool because it's not all the same tired pilates moves, and you can definetely feel it working. The arm and shoulders uses not just the hand weights, but also just your own body weight to challenge you. Again, some new moves, and some variations on old ones. VERY EFFECTIVE. I can still barely keep up with it after months of doing it. The Buns and Thighs is just as fast and just as effective. My husband likes watching me do the last move, where you are on your knees and you have to circle your hips. It may seem like a come on, but trust me, it's a great way to tone your thighs. Silhouette is probably my favorite segment because you get to work all the muscles in your body at once. It's actually very fun and the 10 minutes is up before I know it. The Stretch is quite beautiful. Suzanne moves so gracefully in this segment, you can't help but want to mimick her. It also leaves you feeling great. It will help you relax and ease any sore muscles. I would suggest isolating thi segment for use after ANY workout. Continuation of this stretching will help you become more graceful. The entire practice of Pilates has improved my posture, balance, coordination, and grace. Not to sound sexist, but that is why I love Pilates because I feel it was designed for women to help us stay sexy and still hold up that air of refinement at the same time.

腕は軽いダンベルを使ってエクササイズをします。 腹筋は結構きついエクササイズです。10分がすごく長く感じました。 スーザン先生はスリムな体型に見えるのですが、上腕二等筋に力こぶが隆々としてます。 全体的に細いけど、しっかり筋肉が付いています。 お子さんがいらっしゃる体型には見えず、とても素敵な方です。 呼吸法もきちんと指示してくれます。 ただ、自分がまだ付いて行けないので、きちんとしたやり方が出来ていません。 同じ10 Minute Solutionシリーズのララ・ハドソンのピラティスと同じくらい良い作品だと思います。

Just Right! This 10 Minute Solution Pilates DVD is perfect! Suzanne does the workout by herself which makes following along very easy. It is a simple, quiet environment and Suzanne is easy to listen to. The segments are enjoyable and doable. What I find very appealing about this DVD is the fact that you can create your own personalized workout at the opening of the video and in the order you wish to exercise. Chose stretching to warm up, followed by the body part/parts of your choice to make the work out just 10 minutes or 30 minutes as you're day dictates. Whether your new to Pilates or have been doing it for years this is just a nice Pilates DVD to have in your library.
