Do the pieces destroy each other instead of capturing the muggle way?

The pieces just capture each other like in traditional chess as the pieces are inanimate. They are however quite well moulded and are a good copy of the set in the film. Hope that helps j

Just like any chess piece really, quite sturdy but not heavy.
