Is this a good solution for playing a portable hard drive full of video on my Smart TV that won't play video directly from the portable hard drive.
it is possible to upgrade it?
I had last year's model and i returned it because of the horrible wifi connection. has wifi reception been improved over the 2015 model?
Anyone know what the difference between this and boxstk1aw32scr is? only a couple of $ difference and this one appears to be newer.... same specs

Nice little computer to browse internet watch videos etc
I bought one of these off eBay which I had to return, no such problems here. After setting it up, which took considerably less time than I expected (given other reviews on the internet), I updated the latest Windows 10 updates (which again went relatively quickly compared to 2 laptops I had just set up at work). I connected the Bluetooth mouse and keyboard (again no issues here despite some bad internet experiences) and had a working computer in my TV. I watch Game of Thrones through Sky Go on it, and it played fine. The quality of the playback was not the same as if it watched through the sky box, but perfectly acceptable and I assume this is more down to the quality of the Sky Go system rather than the unit itself. All in all, if you want a computer to watch videos over the internet, on your TV, that you can control from your sofa (with a Bluetooth keyboard and Mouse) then this will do the job nicely. If you want to edit Photos / Videos / run Large Spreadsheets then best to think of something else.

Great for TV dashboards
Have 4 of these to run TV dashboards in our office (running 4k monitors). They work great. Mouse without Borders makes it easy to manage with one keyboard/mouse and we've got a webcam hooked up to one as well. Glad to have found this after numerous attempts to get a system working with Raspberry Pis and chromebits failed.

running 24/7 for 10 months without problems
The reason I am deducting one star is because I had to do some manual updates on the wifi driver (took some time to research as well) to solve the issue of very slow speeds over wifi. Otherwise I am very happy with this purchase. I bought this for digital signage and it has been running 24/7 for 10 months now. .

AMAZING STICK :)
Amazing stick ! I love it. I am using this stick as my computer using my TV screen. I bought Microsoft all-in-one wifeless keyboard together with this Intel stick. Working perfect as my personal computer. Those who are in quest of browsing the net on TV are recommended.

Constantly drops wireless
The compute stick is a nice concept, but in reality it seems to be about as much use as a chocolate teapot for what I wanted to use it for.It comes with the Intel remote keyboard software, which along with an app for your phone or tablet device, allows you to use you remote device to control the stick, acting as keyboard and mouse. You're presented with a popup with details of a network to join by the software, which when joined then allows you to connect directly and use the remote keyboard functions. Except this direct connection drops every few minutes, forcing you to manually reconnect to get rid of the bloody pop-up again. So, watching a film, every few minutes expect to have to reconnect your phone or tablet to it to clear the pop-up. Trying to work in Windows, well expect every few minutes to have to stop what you're doing and reconnect to it to clear the pop-up and make the control work again.I imagine if our connect to to an existing network, and connect the phone to the same network, it may work, and it may be great, I had a miserable time trying to figure out why it wouldn't connect to a wireless network, only to discover that it really doesn't seem to play nice with all 5GHz networks. However, if you're intending to use it as a standalone device and wanted to use the remote keyboard functionality like that, then please, just don't. Save yourself the pain of trying to figure out why the wireless keeps dropping, it's honestly not worth it. Professional reviews of the 1st gen stick said it was unpolished and not ready, and now I can confirm the 2nd gen stick still lacks polish in some rather key areas.

Excellent for everyday tasks
Only use the stick to drive a monitor for browsing the web and displaying sheet music, so no real demands placed on the processor. But it does all I need it to.
