Gooby Comfort X Step-in Dog Harness, Choke-Free, Pink, Medium

So I decided to try to goobey comfort x step in harness because you can adjust it at four points instead of two with the comfort for x over the head. I ordered a medium according to the sizing chart. Peanut is 12lbs with a 17inch chest width. There was a large gab at her chest it was not fitted and it was making her choke because of that. I decided to order this small after talking to goobey customer support extensively and sending pictures while adding as much detail as possible about fitting my peanut girl properly. We got the small and it's truly made a difference. She's coming much less with the fitted small size. She's a hard puller when she's excited. So this is important to me. My girls health is everything! This goobey comfort x step in harness I believe will give her better quality of life. While allowing me to breath a little easier when on walks. The comfort x step in harness is so simple yet affective. It has four straps each adjustable to create the best fit possible. My only complaint would be that they do seem to slip a little when she's been pulling in it. That's not picking because it's very easy to re adjust. It's small with thick enough straps to secure around her.ywt small enough she can easily wear it for periods of time comfortably and she doesn't seem to notice it on. We used to use over the head. They were terrible on her neck. So she's used to that and not stepping in. But she's adjusting to putting her feet in the holes and I feel she will continue to learn to not lift her legs when I'm trying to put it on her. I really couldn't be happier. The goobey was suggested to me by some other dog owners with trachea issues and I'm so glad I listened. Anyone wondering if this harness works. It does. Just make sure it fits correctly.

This is a great harness. My dog is 9 lbs, has a 10" neck and a 15" chest. She wears a medium in this style and it fits her perfectly. She's never been able to get out of it and has yet to choke herself when she spots a squirrel or bird, though she stubbornly tries to run after them. I've recently found that I like Gooby products (like the Gooby Every Day Fleece Cold Weather Dog Vest for Small Dogs, Red, Medium ), so at first I tried the Gooby Choke Free X Frame Soft Harness with Micro Suede Trimming for Small Dogs, Medium, Black , but this is far better in my opinion. It's so much easier to put on, it fits more securely, and it has a more streamlined look to it. This is the best harness I've ever purchased. Update: After using this harness for over two months - three times a day, every day, through sun, fog, and rain - it has stretched out a bit. It no longer fits as snugly as I would prefer. And seeing as how my dog was at the very edge of being a medium (she wore all the adjustments at their smallest), it does look quite loose around her legs and chest when she's just standing still. I can see how if I needed to urge her forward with the use of the harness that it might go over her head and she'd be free. I adjust all the straps at the beginning of every walk now, just to make sure everything's as tight as possible. I don't blame anything but natural wear and tear; materials stretch over time. I was planning on purchasing another harness anyway, this time I'll just choose the small knowing it'll get bigger as time goes on, and this medium will be relegated to being worn atop my dog's thicker fleece vests. Update: I wound up buying the small harness (or two) and it fits even better than the medium! My dog's right in the middle of the strap adjustments, so she has room to grow a big bigger or a bit smaller. For comparison, I've added pics of the medium (black) vs. the small (red). As you can see, the medium gaps a little at the chest, whereas the small fits snugly. I still love this harness just as much as before, maybe even more. I feel a sense of security when I put it on my dog before leaving the house for a walk. Honestly, I'm already considering which color to buy next!

Notice: in case you don't want to read the whole thing, for dogs with similar trachea issues, especially a puller, I’d recommend giving the Gooby Comfort X Head-In Harness (which is the same brand and might be below in recommendations) a try. I got the Gooby Comfort X Step-In Harness for my Chihuahua-Shih Tzu mix, who has a collapsing trachea. Due to her condition, any harness that puts pressure near her throat is a problem, especially since she’s a big puller. While the Comfort X Step-In Harness sits under her collarbone during regular use, it still rides up and touches her neck when she pulls or runs. I was hoping it would work because their other product is perfect for my dog. I had to return this because it doesn't match her needs, as even slight pressure near her neck can aggravate her trachea. But for dogs with out trachea issues or one's that don't pull this seems a solid harness (which is why I gave it four stars). My dog has unique proportions, so switching sizes isn’t an option—anything larger slips off, while anything smaller is too tight. For any dog owners looking for a harness that doesn't aggravate their trachea condition, I recommend the Gooby Comfort X Head-In Harness (Choke-Free Small Dog Harness). This is the only harness I have found that never chokes her or causes her to honk no matter how much she pulls. The design sits lower, about two inches below her collarbone, and stays securely in place even when she pulls. While she has managed to slip out of it once (she’s a bit of an escape artist because of her short legs), it’s the only harness that consistently works for her advanced condition. One minor issue with the Comfort X Head-In model is its sliding back clip, which can shift around due to her size and movements. To keep it secure, I used a duvet pin to hold it in place, and that solved the problem. My video shows the harnesses in more detail and the pictures more clearly show how far from the neck each lay.

Update - Bought that one almost a year ago and it's held up well. The metal rings are a little worn. We also bought a second one for our other pup. This style of Gooby is the one we prefer. Stays in place well and doesn't choke them. Our small doodle is 17 pounds and about 19 inches around/girth. We got the large and it firs great. We needed to switch because a lot of the step in harnesses hit her trachea if she pulls at all. This harness doesn't touch her trachea at all. It's great! Highlights - it's easy to get the right fit with 4 adjustable straps. It's good quality. It doesn't rub under her armpits like other harnesses. And no choke is awesome! No cons but one thing to note is the metal rings are somewhat large and they sometimes get jammed in my leash clasped and it can be hard to get off. But no big deal. We are really happy with this purchase.

Our pocket bully is such a fit challenge-- a little dog with a big-dog chest and shoulders. Harnesses that are sized by weight alone are never a success and we were intrigued to find this design specifically for short-snouted dogs. Despite Tyke's diminutive height (he's maybe 15 inches at the shoulder), his chest measurement puts him in a size XL. And I mean he's just barely within the XL range. Having a 28-inch girth, he's at the top limit of the XL harness. With his chest, shoulders and legs as stout as bullies inherently are, I was concerned that the harness might be tight enough to chafe and pinch. But no, the fit is perfect. He has room for free movement in all directions and we may find we can snug it up just a bit as we work with it. The 'X' design at the chest gives his airway clear passage, and it looks pretty cool, too. And we're loving the step-in feature to put it on him. All in all, this is probably the only harness that will fit Tyke well and comfortably. It looks great, it's super easy to get him into and he'll wear it proudly. So glad we bought it!

My dog is about 12-15 pounds, and I have had a difficult time finding a harness that fits her well. (She is a Cava-Poo.) This product fits perfectly and she loves wearing it whether we are going for a walk or just as her special piece of apparel. She really loves wearing this harness and it looks so cute on her.

This harness was great for my Shiba Inu from 3 - 5 months old. The X in the front sits low so when she pulls and gets excited while walking it doesn’t choke her at all! There are a few issues though. 1) The plastic buckle that sits on the dogs back is quite large, and kind of out of proportion to the rest of the harness for the size of the dog. 2) The same buckle sits right on the dogs spine, so if you keep it on all the time (to make house training easier) you can tell it’s not comfortable for the dog. 3) while not clipped to a leash, the D rings on the back make a TON of noise when the dog shakes b/c it hits against the large buckle. 4) the adjustable, sliding clasps around the straps don’t have any teeth, so they constantly slide and loosen on their own. Sometimes I have to retighten while taking her for a walk. 5) if the adjustable clasps aren’t super tight, it’s quite easy for the dog to stop walking and pull backwards (which is common for shibas), shrug their head down, and slip backwards right out of it. Because I like the material and general fit of this brand, I’m going to try the other Gooby X style harness to see if it’s a better match for my dog.

This is the best harness I have found for my little Shih Tzu dogs. The step-in design makes it easy to put on--nothing has to go over their heads, which is a plus. The "X" portion of the harness sits low on the chest to keep pressure off the trachea so they don't have pressure in the wrong spot even if they pull on the lead. The mesh design dries quickly and is cooler than other harness types for summer wear. Gooby seems to have altered the design a bit, as the straps feel a bit wider than previous harnesses I have purchased in the same design. It's a little tricky getting the fit exactly right, but worth it to keep my dogs comfortable.

Lovely little harness but to small for my dog

It's only okay. It curls and does not lay flat, no matter how tight or loose it is. I'd not buy again but maybe it would work for bigger dogs.
