Kai Shun Premier Santoku knife (18cm) TDM-1702

A few years ago I got a Santoku knife as part of a promotion this became my favourite all purpose knife, being a giveaway it isn't the best quality it is well built lasting where others have failed, though it needs to be constantly sharpened maybe because it is always in use. I love cooking and have always promised to buy a decent set of kitchen knives just never got round to it so after researching I opted to buy the Shun and I am not disappointed in my purchase it arrived in a wooden box which it will live in when not in use.it is well constructed and looks amazing almost too good to use though that would rather defeat the object of the purchase, it is well balanced and extremely sharp probably why the box has, use at your own risk printed on it. It slices a tomato effortlessly without applying downward pressure which is quite impressive it is now taking over from my freebie, the only concern i have got is sharpening it when the time comes a bridge that will have to be crossed at some point.Even though this hasn't had much use having only recently got it I can recommend it it may seem expensive but it isn't a mass produced item being churned out by some robotic machine using substandard materials it is quality and that is worth paying a premium for.

I just moved and I wanted to get a really good sharp knife. I searched around and this had a very good review overall. I was definitely not disappointed. It was extremely sharp. I also had to agree with the others regarding the groove. It vegetable and fruits tend to stick as you cut as it creates a suction due to the groove. So it lost a star. However, the sharpness and the weight is impressive.

This item is of truly supreme quality. The packaging it arrived in was fantastic, the box it is held in is made of a lovelly type of wood with a fitted foam inner which holds the knife wonderfully. Inside you also get a small manual book with tips on how to look after the knife properly, information on the company and warranty info etc. The knife itself is something to behold, the ripples of the metal pattern are not done justice in the picture. It is of larger size than I thought (something I am extremely happy about), the blade length is obviously provided but the handle is thicker and larger than I thought which allows you to have a proper grip on the knife for when you are cutting.Honestly could not be happier with the product and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to take their kitchenware to the next level!!

This is a very good quality general purpose kitchen knife. Balance is good and finish outstanding. It has become my go-to knife every day. Only small criticism is that it wasn’t particularly sharp out of the box; it needed sharpening on a fine stone and a polish of the edge. Not difficult to do but I expected it to arrive sharper. All good otherwise.

I absolutely love this knife. It’s the sharpest out of the box that I’ve ever seen, a pleasure to hold and look at. The wooden box is also a nice touch.

This knife is one I’ve wanted for a long time it cuts like there’s nothing there it’s beautiful highly recommended and during pandemic still highly fast delivery 👋🏻

Bought this for my dad as I ran out of other ideas for things to get him. He loves it, uses it every day. The knife itself is beautiful, folded steel blade, walnut handle, carries a good weight in the hand and cuts effortlessly.

The most aesthetic and well balance knife i’ve ever used, the attention to detail is phenomenal.
