Works as expected perhaps. However, not as hoped.
This Hub was purchased in order to “daisy-chain” three to four additional USB Hubs to it. So far, it is working well with two additional Hubs attached to it (to ports 1 and 2). However, adding another Hub, leads to an error message (that I do not recall at this time, but it is something akin to: device is too far away from the root port) which indicated that adding a third Hub cannot be done perhaps. USB Hubs, apparently, with more than 4 ports are in fact multiple hubs in one. For example, a seven port Hub will actually be one four port Hub and one three port Hub, simply in one enclosure. This Hub is, in fact, three Hub combined perhaps leading to the aforementioned error message. As I spoke with Anker about my needs and plans before purchase, this occurrence has cost this product one star from my review.Besides this bugbear, the Hub works as expected, again, even if not as hoped. However, it should be noted that care should be taken when attaching USB pen drives that are made out of plastic. This Hub is solidly built out of metal. While attempting to attach a plastic pen drive, the interface of the pen drive was essentially shredded. In order to protect the data and allow the effective continued use of the Hub, I hastily purchased another pen drive, this time made of metal.Regarding the heat, I have not noticed the Hub getting particularly warm and certainly not hot. Having just checked, note that my PC has been on for at least twenty-four hours, the Hub is, in fact, cold. Finally, the transfer speed is comfortably, as the product description suggest, USB 3.0.

Excellent quality USB hub.
Good quality, solid, metal case usb extender. I've been using this for a while now and it has presented no issues at all. I've had problems with other units where one or several of the usb ports will stop working for whatever reason. This one has been soldiering on very nicely. There is a green LED at the top of the unit showing lit when power is connected, and blue LEDs along the length next to each USB port. The blue LEDs light up when something is plugged in to that port. They are not as bright as some other units, but that's not a bad thing as they are far less intrusive than other units. The USB ports are solid and grab a usb plug without rattle or movement. Fitting is quite tight, so the plugs are unlikely to work themselves out. This also makes for a nice connection, which doesn't suddenly disconnect because the plug has moved in the port for whatever reason. There is a long motion on/off button on the bottom end of the case which sits inside a plate that has the edge of the casing projecting over by three or four millimetres. This does mean that the power button can't be knocked accidentally thereby turning off everything attached. The cable connecting this to your computer is surprisingly thick in comparison to other similar units. I have no idea why this is the case, but I'm not complaining. Data transfer is more than satisfactory and I have a variety of different items running on this, all working just fine. There is a single power charging point at the bottom end (same end as the power button) and this is clearly marked on top of the casing, as are the thirteen USB ports above it.The casing is well finished in a satin black coat, with rounded corners on the length of the case, and nicely clean edges at the top and bottom of the case. No edges, or burrs to catch or cut with. There is a set of cut ridges on the sides which assist when gripping the unit to move, unplug or plug something in.Overall, this is easily the best USB hub I've had so far. I would not hesitate to recommend this to others.

It's ok but it could be improved
Looks good if you like that rugged industrial look. I've been using it for about two months and so far it's been ok. The ports are plentiful, and the USB cable is removable, so you could change it if you need a longer one. Some annoyances:- I don't see the need for so much LED lights, and even if you did need to indicate which ports are in use, they could have been made smaller and not as bright. Same with the power light.- It does get hot sometimes, though not too much - it's warm but not so much that it's uncomfortable to touch or hold in my hand.- There is a slight buzzing sound occasionally when I'm charging my phone and doing something on it at the same time - it happens at the same time as there is some activity going on, for example, when unlocking the phone, or scrolling, or running some power-hungry app - I'm guessing that there's a higher power draw at that time and the sound is the power supply ramping up.- I tried out all the ports today and ports 10-13 had stopped working at all. I turned it off, disconnected the cables, and turned it back on, and those ports were working again. I hadn't used them before, so perhaps they were just stuck in some shutdown mode.

Works ok though you need a spear USB 3.0 socket but...
I bought this cause even though I had two hubs with ten sockets each and a hard drive with 2 USB sockets on I still needed more to avoid plugging and unplugging stuff. I really do think we need more hubs with 25+30 sockets these days as there is so much USB stuff around. Come on guys get it together. Anyway its built like a battleship this with its metal casing though you still have to be careful plugging stuff in as I have broken the sockets quite easily on two hubs before. I think the USB cable supplied could be longer as I needed an extension and only had USB 2.0 so am losing out on its full capability (Speed wise) till my USB 3.0 extension cable arrives. However one big downside is my printer Epson ET-4550 wont work with it and I have to plug this into my other Hub which works ok. Contacted the guys who made it and they say not enough power. How that works out I don't know as its plugged into the mains. However I got in touch with the supplier and they were very helpful in trying to resolve it but unfortunately not until there is an update but they reimburse half the cost to make up for this inconvenience I am pleased to say. I up updated my review to 5 stars for this.
