Overall this is a highly recommend product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ excellent hardware - works perfectly *by B***R on 19 March 2013* I would have given this 5 stars but I couldn't get the supplied software - ArcSoft Showbiz - to run on either of my two Windows 7 64 bit machines. That won't be a problem in most cases because ArcSoft and the vendor tell me it runs perfectly and maybe its just the set up on my pcs. You also get a copy of Videodub which is a much more powerful capture and edit program so that's okay. The hardware itself is excellent. You get a SCART output plug which has the yellow red and white sockets and a long lead that connects the usb grabber to the vhs. The grabber itself has a lead that terminates in a usb plug rather than plugging direct into the usb port. That is much better than a unit that plugs straight in as the weight of the lead on other units I've had puts a strain on the unit and the port and sometimes the units needed a wiggle to make proper contact. No problem at all with this piece of kit. I bought this to use with MoviePlus from serif and it runs perfectly. No reason to think it won't run with any other well known video editing package although the vendors won't promise that (which is fair enough as they have no idea what ytou are running and how well its installed). So I didn't need ArcSoft or videodub anyway. Instructions you get are clear and well written and backed up by video tutorials on the supplied cd. When I couldn't get Showbiz to run, an email to the vendor was answered promptly although we still couldn't get it to run. Tim - the vendor - didn't hesitate to offer me the cash back but as the unit is working perfectly with MoviePlus - and other units I had didn't - I think you can buy with confidence that any problems you have will be swiftly resolved. It will probably run perfectly for you straight out of the box. The quality of the vhs to dvd transfer I've just done is amazing for an old vhs tape. If you're looking for a way of transferring old vhs tapes to dvd I think this would be a sound investment. I've had two other units. The first was only compatible with Windows XP and was retired gracefully. The second worked - just - with Windows 7 and then died. This unit is by far and away much better made and far higher in quality. I'm now feeling a bit mean that I didn't give it five stars but it did take a bit of playing around before I ditched the ArcSoft showbiz and tried the main editing program I have - MoviePlus. If you have a program for video editing already, suggest you just install the drivers and try your main program immediately although if you do need support with the supplied programs there is a lot of it i the documentation, in the video tutorials and icredibly quickly by email.
