Alone it does not entirely eliminate the hum. My amp doesn't have a ground connector. However, I then also ran another ground lead from the preamp to a close-by heating radiator bleed valve. This eliminated any trace of hum or interference completely! So the trick is to ground the PP400 itself AND the turntable. Incidentally, the PP400 is a superb entry-level preamp, very Very small. At the current Prime price it's an absolute steal. **Q: Is there any way to reduce the amplification? I'm getting terrible distortion from my un-amplified turntable.** A: There is no way of turning it down, it maybe that your turntable is outputting a line signal which is causing the problem. **Q: Have a technics 1210 mk2 and JBL 305 active speakers. will this pre amp be enough to get good quality through my speakers?** A: The simple answer is yes.
