Having travelled the world routinely on business, had multiple gold frequent flier cards simultaneously, and owned Tumi, Travelpro and other premium brands, I've finally settled on Samsonite as my luggage of choice. Why? Excellent quality that matches those other brands but at a reasonable price. I have a hard shell carry-on and a suit carrier bought in 1996 that refuse to die and still look good. But my last family-size softshells - bought in 2004 - finally gave up the ghost this year after sterling service on all holidays across a number of continents, so a replacement set was needed. So having bought three of these and taken them to NYC for a family holiday, I can report that Samsonite continue to be my luggage of choice. Here's why. Firstly, excellent construction. These have a tough polycarbonate base and back frame that, with the wire soft frame, provide a case you'd feel comfortable packing fragile items, albeit padded by clothes. We managed to bring back some really nice Chinese earthenware without probems. They also look cool, typically unostentatious Samsonite. The outer skin is hard-wearing yet good looking and the expansion facility is genuinely useful. This is finished with a slick TSA-compliant lock that makes each zipper pull do double duty as locking tabs. Neat. Secondly, they carry and travel with ease. The pull out aluminium tow bar is reassuringly rigid and positive in action; the wheels simply glide effortlessly whether vertical or tilted; even the side carry handle is well thought out, being highly comfortable, yet distributing the strain to the frame, rather than the side of the case. But finally, it does all this while being light - and I mean very very light. These are amongst the lightest in class. With air travel nowadays having almost everything as an optional extra, and the gradual erosion of luggage allowances, this was a huge boon for us, allowing us to pack two weeks of luggage yet still have both the space and weight allowance left over to get everything under our 23kg allowance upon return (with the usual carry-on canniness in packing). ;) What's not to like? Well, they're not "fashionable". Sure they look sleek and classy, but they don't stand out. Not important for me. And maybe you could say the style is a little anonymous. But frankly, after so many years of travel, I no longer care. So, another excellent product. I'll give it a perfect 5 stars after 5 years use.

Very light, but seemingly sturdy suitcase. Looks smart. Probably not the most secure suitcase ever, but does have a combination lock. The front (outside) pocket is very tight do not much use for anything other than papers etc.

They look great suitcases, looking forward to using them.

Needed a new case to last me a week for a business trip, and decided this was the one - I am not disappointed - in terms of size, it's one up from a cabin bag, its a very lightweight case, with great expansion capability - which I didn't need. Love the addition of the strap holders for when you are packing - you know how you always pack stuff on top of the retention straps and have to fish them out - on this case there are 2 holders for those straps to prevent this. what did I pack - 2 suits, 2 pairs of trousers, 5 shirts, 4 T-shirts, 7 days worth of smalls, A gimble, my IT stuff (a lot of cables, adapters and a mouse), my large toiletries bag, PJ's . . and I still had a ton of space without expanding it! Came back scuffed, but the scuffs have rubbed out so its as good as new again!

If I'd been able to leave a zero star review, I would have done. This suitcase has a RRP of £200. I bought it three years ago. It has been on five trips and the TSA lock has now broken. I bought this item because of the TSA lock. It has a five year warranty so I checked out the Samsonite website to find out about repairing the zip and the website said it was too complicated to do it so I should contact customer service. I did and received this response: "Thank you for contacting Samsonite. I am sorry the spare part is out of stock at the moment, However this will be back on our system mid june. We will keep your case under review once back in stock I will send this out." I was surprised at the poor grammar in this email from a representative of a big company but there are also many grammatical errors on their website. I didn't understand why there was any mention of a spare part considering the website said the repair couldn't be done. I wrote back to point out that the website said the product should not be repaired but should be brought to a service place and this was the response, "I am sorry we do not advise to repair it yes your self however it is easy as u pull the hook up and slide out the old and slide new in and then press down. However if you are not comfortable to repair your self you are more then entitled to send to the service centre or visit any of our Samsonite store." What an excellent representation of the company! Absolute garbage and also to suggest that I bend the metal to remove and replace the pull tab and then bend it back would surely negate the warranty and would also weaken the zip pull. I would not recommend this suitcase or any product from this company and I will definitely not purchase from them again.

Grey Large. A good size. Will fit full 23Kg allowance. Surprisingly light. Only done two flights but came away from those with no sign of damage. Seems pretty strong considering how light it is. The wheels stick out quite a bit, but I think that is inevitable for this 4-wheeler style, but it is a dream to move around the airport upright or tilted. Smart but dull. We will need to mark it somehow to make it more spottable on the collection belt.

Die Größe ist perfekt, die Rollen fahren sich sehr leicht, die Griffe sind sehr handlich und Koffer gut zu tragen. Auch der ausziehbare Griff funktioniert einwandfrei. Super auch das geringe Eigengewicht (war für mich ein Kaufargument). Koffer bietet viel Stauraum. Der Gurt im inneren des Koffers hält die Sachen gut zusammen, sodass, wenn man nicht das ganze Volumen nützt, diese nicht durch die Gegend fliegen. Reißverschluss lässt sich leicht führen und auch das integrierte Schloss ist toll. Koffer passt im Flugzeug auch gut unter dem Sitz, ohne dass man bei den Füßen dann eingeschränkt ist.

I don't know why this was only available from the UK, but it's such a great suitcase, I feel lucky to have gotten it. It's super lightweight and manageable. When I first took it to the airport, the guy at the desk weighed it and I could tell he first couldn't believe it was within guidelines because I had packed it full and still it was under the required weight. The suitcase is designed so well, it fit just as many clothes as a slightly larger suitcase I have of nearly the same weight. This one qualifies as carryon for many airlines' international flights. It's getting really hard to get these 2wheel suitcases that have more packable area than the spinner wheel ones, so I feel especially lucky to have gotten this one. When Samsonite makes these ultralightweight great quality 2-wheeled suitcases, there's just no competition. Unfortunately, they aren't making them so much anymore.

Ich habe mir die Koffer vor meinem Urlaub bestellt und bin wirklich sehr zufrieden. Sie sind angenehm leicht und lassen sich super einfach schieben, selbst wenn sie voll gepackt sind. Die Rollen laufen sehr ruhig und flüssig, was das Reisen deutlich entspannter macht besonders am Flughafen. Auch die Verarbeitung wirkt hochwertig und stabil. Der Innenraum ist gut aufgeteilt und bietet ausreichend Platz. Insgesamt machen die Koffer einen sehr robusten Eindruck und sehen zudem noch modern aus. Ich würde sie definitiv wieder kaufen und kann sie klar weiterempfehlen.
