I love Hercules guitar stands and this stand was no disappointment, It's sturdy and strong, the clamps are easy to use and hold it in position even with a fairly heavy condenser mic. It's plenty good enough to gig with even though it was really bought for home recording - if you need a stand don't hesitate, get this one, although when I bought it, it was apparently on sale, so a bargain at around £25.Only slight drawback is you might need to get a clamp for your mic, although the screwthread fitted the condenser mic perfectly which was what I needed, so I'm happy.

It arrived 2 days earlier than expected so that was a good start. Having put the stand together it does seem quite sturdy and I've had a microphone attached to the extended boom arm for a few hours now and it hasn't moved. Also good! In the photos you will see a round cup shaped thing that was in the box. I thought maybe it was for placing the bottom of the main stand in to prevent it damaging the floor but it doesn't fit that and I can't find anywhere else to put it. I should be grateful if anyone has any thoughts. So far, and it is only the first day, I am satisfied with this stand.

**Q: When the boom is fully extended does it want to start sagging or tip over?**
A: It does not sag. The clutch mechanism has teeth that bite into a hard rubber washer, providing a very secure positioning. As with all tripod stands, align one of the legs in direction of boom to prevent tipping when fully extended.

**Q: Does this stand use the standard 5/8" threading for the mic clip or the smaller 3/8" like other Hercules stands?**
A: The smaller 3/8" is fixed to the boom, but it comes with a little adapter that converts it to the standard 5/8". So both sizes can be used with this mic stand.

**Q: Could I use this stand for choir microphone?**
A: Absolutely. It's just a heavier duty mic stand.

It arrived 2 days earlier than expected so that was a good start. Having put the stand together it does seem quite sturdy and I've had a microphone attached to the extended boom arm for a few hours now and it hasn't moved. Also good! In the photos you will see a round cup shaped thing that was in the box. I thought maybe it was for placing the bottom of the main stand in to prevent it damaging the floor but it doesn't fit that and I can't find anywhere else to put it. I should be grateful if anyone has any thoughts. So far, and it is only the first day, I am satisfied with this stand.

I bought one of these when my trusty Sennheiser snapped in two about a year ago. I use it in my studio to hold my Rode NT2 microphone, which is quite a heavy microphone. This stand holds the NT2 firmly in position without the boom slipping down (like it does on my Behringer mike stand), so I decided to get another one to replace the Behringer to hold the second NT2 for when I do stereo recording. I would thoroughly recommend this stand. It is well worth the £30 price which I paid for it. Note, however, that the stand does not come with its own mike holder. If your microphone does not come supplied with its own holder, you will need to purchase this separately. (No problem with the NT2s as they come with their own cradle.)
