Difficult, but impressive when finished.
The gears are impressively complex look great but ultimately stop the thing from working. Luckily, I only ever wanted it for the challenge of assembly. And what a challenge! I would recommend holding each panel up to the light, locate the tiny slivers of wood that hold the parts to the panel, and cut them with a thin sharp knife, otherwise the parts may not come out in one piece.

Italieri models can be a bit... challenging. Good price though.
Italieri models are often fairly poorly moulded. There were all sorts of problems with this. Warped parts, badly moulded sections, fiddly bits and some pretty dodgy instructions... however, with perseverance, some fettling, a bit of brute force, it actually ended up being pretty decent. Something different from my usual 'armour' kits. Price wise very good - just not for beginners in my opinion.

Great detailed model nicely moulded a good few hours relaxing build.

small and fiddly
looks good when finished. Flash photo does not do justice to paintwork. Parts are small and fiddly requiring tweezers on occasion. Also parts not always to size and require sandpapering. Boiler front support did not line up correctly and required some cutting away to give good fit. Also, builder will need some sort of jig to hold tender wheels and axles to be held in place whist glue dries. Not for the fainthearted.
